Agreed. If Rafa's not starting any of Riera, Kuyt, Torres, Xabi then it's because he can't. If he'd rested them midweek people would have slaughtered him.

I appreciate your point, coop. But when a Liverpool manager sends out a team with 3 players tasked with winning the game, and 8 players tasked with not losing it (and this against a team with no confidence coming into the clash), it says everything you need to know about the way he approaches football: he's become more cautious rather than less over time. It's just not a way that works in England.

 

It's also a savage indictment of the quality of the squad - even in central midfield we seem weak these days.

 

And finally i think that slsection today is an absolute insult to some of the youngsters at the club like El Zhar, Plessis, Spearing. Rafa has announced that he has no faith in them at all.
