The students union at JMU does not sell the S*n and hasn't for a long time. Not just because of Hillsborough, but just because it's an all round scummy paper.

 

I know the union magazine has also ran campaigns educating freshers about it in the past too.

i'm a bit late coming to this thread, but i seem to remember the university of liverpool student union stocking it, but admittedly i've not been there for a good 2 years or so. not only was i pretty appalled that they did sell it, what's worse is that there is a memorial plaque upstairs in the guild of students regarding one of the hicks daughters, who was at the university at the time that she lost her life at hillsborough.

 

sadly, university's, like most other industries, think first and foremost in terms of their bank balance, and if selling that gutter rag is going to make them a few quid, then i imagine they're willing to do it. as i say, i haven't been into the student union for a few years, so they may not stock it any more. hopefully they, and everywhere else is liverpool, don't.

Right, 4 of the bastard bus shelters along Eccleshall Road (Major Student Area) in Sheffield had the Scum Rag advertisement on. So all four had DONT BUY THE SUN JFT96 stickers plastered over the logo on my way to and from work. Feel better now, if only one person reads it then it was worth it. Was walking back with my mate and his bird and noticed two which i'd missed so they got stickered.

 

I worked round that way once, for Norwich Union, used to go to a pub called the Pomona after work!

 

Gang of miserable feckers up that neck of the woods. A scouse barmaid was made up to serve 'somebody with a normal accent' when we used to go in the Pomona!

 

I'm working in Edinburgh at the moment, and they haven't got a fucking scooby about the Scum up there, despite my HJC T-Shirt, Badges, and Keyrings getting a regular airing, along with a rant about that shitty rag.
