A CL final yet we are still poor?

To be honest it doesn't really matter how much more Chelsea make anyway as it doesn't effect their spending power.

I'm sure we'd sell shit loads more merchandise if we won a couple of leagues and a couple more cups with commemerative t-shirts and the like. The club missed out on Istanbul big time on that front (look at the amount of unofficial merchandise sold, everyone had a t-shirt!) but maybe with us now having a commercial director they'll be better placed next time round.

As for success at all costs, their welcome to it, but I won't be going and I bet the majority of the ones complaining about not generating enough money at present won't be either. A new stadium is paramount but tickets must remain affordable to the average fan.

when you consider my season ticket actually costs less than one i could get for League 1 Leeds, i am happy as hell to still be in the top 10. Basically, to get rich, i'll have to pay more, and most of those riches will go to the bastard owners and their loans anyway, so please keep my ticket cost affordable.

Being 8th richest in the world is actually pretty good considering our stadium capasity and ticket prises I would say.

The clubs potential is huge though, it probably has the 2nd largest international fanbase in the world.

The lack of off-field success must owe a great deal to the shoddy marketing and merchandising of the club, for example running out of shirts in the club shop.

I wanted one of the 'gold' CL shirts with the blue badges on but they were delayed, then they didn't tell anyone when they were coming out, and then they didn't have enough produced and most people couldn't get one.

It also seemed to take ages to get a CL DVD released, if that'd been the mancs it would've been on the shelves the following monday.

There's no point being loved if you can't pull your kecks down.

No. Chelsea Village is their white elephant. Theyhave made their money from mad ticket prices and Kenyon's specialism in merchandise.

Yes but these figures are turnover not profit. So all income from chelsea villlage will be included even if it's losing money.

Quite. Unless you go the match you don't appreciate how fucking expensive this gig is, particularly when the Cup games start arriving thick and fast

Liverpool must be one of the worst run clubs when it comes to merchandising. How many times have we quickly sold out of stuff to hear that they won't be making anymore. They could have at least trebled their sales after we won the CL but all we heard was that they have sold out and no more are being made. My friend tried to buy the european away kit off the site and its not even the page anymore.

Regarding prices i dont think a price hike of say an extra £2 a game would be bad. All that is is one less pint at the pub after. That extra £2 would make a difference to our revenue a season.

The want to be the worlds richest club is everything I hate about football.

Fuckin money. And it's the moneyfans to blame for it all.

Oh I love you in a non gay sexual way

I long for the day when it all goes bang and all these supper rich fuckers have nothing to do with the game and it costs a couple of quid to see a game but it will never happen

They will just succeed in driving the true fans away and replaced them with gobshites

Being 8th richest is NOT good when you consider we are the most decorated club in the world's richest league.

I'd look at it the other way around to be honest. Also - being 'most decorated' is over 50 years, this is talking about finances NOW, and we're NOT the most decorated club in Europe in the last 10 years, not by a long shot.

Having a 44,000 capacity and competing against teams who play in the San Siro, Old Trafford, Emirates, Bernabau, Camp Nou, Olympic Stadium - I'd say that's a pretty good effort. But to be REALLY up there, we'll need bigger capacities. And dare I say ti a hefty prawn sandwich brigade.

It's not bad either.

A new stadium will improve revenue no end, helping us to get towards Arsenal and Man Utd in terms of revenue. A new sponsorship deal will also help, and you would have to think that we are currently in a 'holding measure' with Carslberg, with a new deal likely to provide much more income.

Chelsea have a similar capacity but are ahead of us. Two main reasons for that:

1. London gate prices

2. Champions twice in last three years (couple with untold newspaper column inches due to hullaballoo surrounding Abramovich/Maureen etc.)

We're currently eigth. Not great, perhaps, but certainly not bad. More success and a new stadium will improve things.

We have been to two of the last 3 CL finals mate, globally the biggest club tournament around. We are the most successful English club in Europe over the last 10 years....

They also have:

1. London wages not just on players.

2. London land costs.

3. We have 2 CL finals and a much bigger fan base globally.

No it wouldnt IMO - it would go into the pocket of people like Harry Kewell.

I am starting to jib away games because we are being charged the likes of 43 quid for west Ham. I am not doing it anymore, its getting stupid.
