The picture above was published in The New York Times in 1993. It was taken by a South African photographer named Kevin Carter, who was covering the humanitarian crisis in Sudan in the 90's. As you can see in this symbolic image, a vulture, aware that a starving Sudanese girl is close to taking her last breath, is stalking her in order to feed its hunger. In 1994, Kevin Carter won a Pulitzer Prize for this picture. A few months later he committed suicide because of severe depression.
