This is actually a decent outcome for Newcastle, they have the players to  finish top 4 without Europe

Nah.

They overachieved last year IMO.

They aren't all that and I don't think they finish Top 4 this year - although yeah no europe will be a help to them.

Seen a few things saying the PL will lose the 5th place if Newcastle finish bottom.

Can anybody confirm?

Nah, England are currently 3rd for this years rankings and this result will affect it but England still have loads of clubs still in Europe and it’s far too early for anyone to be certain who will get the extra places.

Probably won’t know until between march and may who gets the two extra places.

They've played about 25 games so far and already the excuses of them being shattered. Can only imagine what players who got pissed up 4/5 days a week, played on mud heaps and got the shit kicked out of them while playing 55/60 games a week think. I know it's a different game, higher pace

They’re learning that just because you win the lottery, you still have to earn your place to win in this competition, even City took years before they eventually did it.

Newcastle will benefit being able to “concentrate on the league”, and I’ve no doubt they’ll continue to evolve (buy more players) and their fans will benefit having seen more technical players in the flesh, and by assessing whether it was a good idea to have gone quiet when their team went behind.

Would be interesting to hear what Shearer has to say now. He was dismissing the tiredness at the weekend saying they should be ready to play at any time and that tiredness is a myth.
