You say ego, he says commercial acumen.

Would be absolutely perfectly normal behaviour and fully accepted (or mostly) by fans in American sport for example.  Certainly after LeBron James led the way in basketball.

As fans we think "look at those greedy bastard players", whereas the players think "look at those greedy bastard owners".

I'm not concerned about his salary but his demands on who the club sign/play and how they play to suit him. Like that preening cunt Neymar, it's him first, team second.

I can see us enquiring just to poke the Real Madrid bear to be honest having seen us loosely linked with Valverde and Tchouameni  knowing Madrid might have to sell 1 or the other to help finance the deal. Far fetched? Maybe but knowing how much Perez wants Mbappe I wouldn't rule it out.

There’s a reason we are the one club consistently linked to him and it sure as fuck isn’t because we’re going to sign him. My guessing is that the club like the speculation because it makes us look relevant at the top table of y the transfer business and journos like using us for clicks because we’re massive. Waiting on Tchouameni could be the reason things have slowed on the transfer front again.

Tchouameni situation is unpredictable. They put him in a bit of a tough spot playing him as the lone holding midfielder, which at his age, was always going to be difficult, and he isn't that kind of player yet.

It's hard to know whether they need money or not, whether they will give up on him or not.

I thought he would have been a weird fit here last summer, but his profile is not something we currently have; a physically gifted 6/8 who can get up and down the pitch. And then in two years, he could probably be Fabinho's replacement.

Is it just me, or do all three of them look like the same person?

It's not you they do look similar. Perhaps we have a secret breeding programme to save FSG millions
