The amount of the cunts who see a non white Caucasian, a gay person or a person with disabilities and go “I’m not watching that box ticking rubbish” mustn’t have anything left to watch. Sad bastards.

Obviously they probably do watch and sit there bitching and polluting their kids minds with vile rhetoric.

See also the cunts who say they won’t donate to the RNLI anymore. Like you did Tracy, like you ever did.

There happens to be an article about one of the RNLI stations shutting down on the daily mail at the minute and the comments section is even worse than you’d expect.

Same with..I never see a white person on an advert

It's a funny one that, as casting is a purely commercial decision.  Nothing to do with quotas or appearing trendy.  The whole point is they are trying to shift product and have to appeal to a target audience.

If it turned people off, they'd stop doing it - it's a business!

It does backfire occasionally though. I worked for an online retailer way back when and they went through a phase of hiring models with "realistic body types" and sales went down. With stuff like that, people see the idealised them, not the real them.

When I wear a leather jacket I imagine I'm the terminator, not a fat middle aged man.

Ha!  I'm sure you look like Danny Zucko really, Sec...

I agree with your point on idealism and aspiration, but you can bet your bottom dollar your company changed tack when the first quarter figures came in.

It used to be that having Black people in television programmes or on the cover of a magazine meant that the programme or magazine was for Black people.  "Everybody" was White.  For example, I used to always look for a Black woman on the cover of a bridal magazine just to gauge any cultural shift.  I never saw one.  Black is for Black.  White is for "everyone".

Now, both Black and White can mean "everyone".

The people who rile against wokeism usually can't distinguish between a BBC Drama, which is intrinsically linked to culture, and an advert for pet insurance which is 100% about commerce.

Incidentally, when I was at school, I used to go the theatre all the time.  We used to go to this small theatre in Manchester where they'd cast actors for parts regardless of their ethnicity.  This always caused confusion for the uninitiated when family members would be of completely different races - a Black mother of a White and an Asian ,child.  So you'd be trying to read the significance of this when there was absolutely none.

I always find it a bit embarrassing when people over here adopt these American terms without engaging their brain.

Clearly the term is applicable to things in the UK but the whole civil rights thing was & is very different in America.

Being woke is clearly a good thing to be, in its original sense but people on both sides of the debate have muddied the waters.

It's highly amusing when you have all these fuck nuggets with anti woke on their profile, without having a clue what it fucking means

Judging by the plethora of grifter videos on YouTube, it means 'no birds or darkies in Star Wars, Marvel films or muh vidya games'.

To be fair, in some cases they do have a point. Lazy race and gender-swapping of established characters looks jarring at times. It's also patronising, the role isn't usually rewritten to take account of the character's different background, it's just a straight swap for diversity points- not that the grifters care about that aspect of course, they just want to whinge to their slack-jawed, captive audience.

Yep- one simple example- 'defund the police'. In the US, they're practically a paramillitary outfit, tooled up to the nines. Over here we could do with more money being put in for background checks to weed out the nutters, better training and  the ability to actually investigate the low level crimes and antisocial behaviour that blight a lot of people's lives.

That's exactly what "Defund the Police" preached amongst other, including mental health specialist "cops" in the field.

Unfortunately "Reallocate Some of the Shitload of Cash You Fucks Get" didn't fit on the banner,

America is fucked in the way it deals with so many things.

'We have an opiod epidemic, you know what we need? Chinooks, that'll stop the poor folk turning to drugs as their lives are so inexplicably shit, damn straight!'

Must of been quite different in the UK.

Growing up here amongst the most popular primetime shows were - Good Times, Sanford and Son, Chico and the Man, All in the Family - which spun off The Jeffersons,

Plus MASH had Spearchucker Jones.

They dared to rescue migrants crossing the Channel. You know, instead of just sitting there and letting human beings drown.
