I told you in a post above they got a 5% increase Angry, same as nurses, though unlike nurses construction workers had a large rise the year before.

 

Construction workers in general are doing fine out of Brexit Angry. Someone very close to me runs an employment agency covering construction in the S. West. Another family member owns a large (ish) construction company. Carpenters are in short supply, they are earning good money, believe me. Obviously inflation has hit everyone these past few months.

Again, you're putting all your faith in the theories of market forces: that as supply (in this case, labour) reduces prices (i.e. wages) will increase. In reality, supply & demand are far from the biggest influence on wages. The biggest influence has always been the relative power of employers and employees - and "the whole point of Brexit" is to shift that balance in favour of the bosses.

The bottom line is that the whole point of Brexit was to effect more privatisation, less regulation of corporations, poorer public services and reduced rights for workers.  Anyone who fell for the "Lexit" delusion forgot to take account of the political reality of a Tory Government.

Mentioned this before but I watched a programme a while ago and there was this clip of this old fella on brexit day in tears,saying we got our country back.

I don't know but it's always stayed with that clip.
