I thought he was imperious myself. Kept arguably the best forward in history quiet. That’s no small feat.

He was immense last night and if he could put that kind of performance in week in week out we have no need to look for a replacement but his concentration level dips on a monthly basis to where he doesn’t resemble a premier league defender, his consistency levels are the only thing that needs improving.

I thought it was. Not many defenders could keep Ronaldo quiet the way he did last night. He’d retire in a couple of years time as arguably the best forward ever. That tackle on Bale was a thing of beauty too. Without Lovren we would’ve lost the game 4-0. He kept the score respectable. I thought he was very very good. Don’t you?

The truth is probably somewhere in between. Last night he great and playing with VVD has improved him , as has having two decent FB's who know how to defend,. Lovren should stay but we need another good CB in the squad and Klavan isnt the one

Klavan is an ideal 4th choice, the odd one out for me is Matip.

 

Preferably we’d have 1st & 2nd choice: Van Dijk/Elite level new signing

3rd: Lovren

4th: Klavan

I agree he’s more than a good enough squad player but would he stay? If he did then yea I agree we could get rid of Klavan and keep him but since Van Dijk has arrived I think Lovren’s been considerably better than Matip whilst playing next to him.

I don't trust Lovren and want him replaced as first choice.

 

That said, he stepped up and played to the max of his abilities last night. Credit where it's due.
