It's a song from the 90s celebrating the Croatian defence of their homeland from the attacking Serbs. The lyrics are about as 'Nazi' as Flower of Scotland or the Marseillaise.

Really?

I read that it contains slogans from the Croatian Nazis of WWII (like the Sieg Heil-type bit at the start), which would make it a bit, y'know, Nazi.

The "to defend the homeland - we're ready" bit?

It's obviously got nationalist aspects to it, not sure it's supremacist in any obvious sense though.

It's more a question of what the slogans were used for. Hailing victory is not, in itself, problematic; shouting "Sieg Heil" is. It's all about historical, cultural and symbolic baggage.

On a slight tangent, the entirety of The Death Of Yugoslavia, a 1995 BBC documentary series, is on YouTube.

While it could do with being updated to take account of subsequent events, it's still a brilliant, though at times disturbing, watch.

Why is it fascist? Which of the lyrics are fascist? The invading Serbs were the fascists in the war it celebrates.

I suggest you read up on Thompson and then interpret the lyrics how you see fit:

The fact that Serbia was the aggressor in the Yugoslav wars doesn't mean that (a large body of) Croats weren't then, previously, or now fascists, incidentally. That's quite clearly not the case. And I say that as someone with significant Croatian sympathies...
