He certainly will leave a rich legacy of shite performances that have contributed in no small way to us being pretty grim over the last three seasons. The minute I saw he was in the team, I got the sinking feeling. It's not his fault he was selected - but it's fucking depressing that he was.

I don't care who beats us, I hate getting beat. By picking players who fall so far short of the requisite quality, we're increasing our chances of getting beat. That's Kenny's responsibility.

Kuyt was far from our worst player today.

In fact there werent many poor performances except for one obvious mistake and every time we got in their penalty area.

It was a about ten minutes between WBAs goal and the substitution of Spearing, and in my opinion, we stopped applying the necessary pressure from midfield when he was substituted. It is what it is though, we all se things differently..

But how some posters can be slagging off Spearing after this game is beyond me...

shelvey for spearing was the right move. attacking midfielder for a defensive one. didn't work but neither did downing or bellamy substitutions.

u might be right mate .. i think we lost the game long before that anyway when we started hitiing the post as usual lol

and still people having a go at me for saying spearing was excellent ... he didnt put a foot wrong all game ... how come he was not excellent??!!!

i know how some of the guys here think ... it all depends on the result .. if we have won this with some freakish goal then spearing would have been the next zidane

My point was really not Shelvey being sent on, but to withdraw Spearing. We had very good control of the midfield at that point and i think it would have benefitted us more is Shelvey had replaced a defender.

Using Codian logic, if we had taken off Johnson for Shelvey they never would have even scored. Win win, we get a famous point against Hodgson and Spearing is the next Zidane.

I don't think we should go around expecting CL qualification next season. The fact is that teams rarely make that sort of progress out of the blue, there have to be fundamental changes at the club. There's generally a hint of league progress the season before, and if not you're looking at massive investment or a change of manager to get something more from the team.

If the status quo is maintained, a top 7 place within 10 points of 4th would be a magnificent league campaign for 2012-13. It's a fairly big ask and possible rather than likely, but there's just nothing to suggest that we're ready to move on.

I think we should sell Suarez and buy someone who can score goals.

Hope that is some lame joke , Suarez is one of the few positives we can muster up in our team , Skrtel and Agger are the other shining lights ....

Suarez

Skrtel

Agger

Pepe

Gerrard

Johnson

Lucas

Coates

Kelly

Enrique

Bellamy

Plenty of defenders there , need to add a lot of attacking quality to that , the rest of the they squad can fuck off , the sooner the better.

You're unlucky in a few games, over the course of a season you're just not good enough.

Seconded absolutely. Stop living in cloud nine. This team won't get us anywhere next season. Major surgery required. Carroll and Henderson defineitely have to go. Bring in two/ three plyayers in lieu and promot a couple of our youngsters. We need change absolutely.

Im not saying it would have won us the game, but we stopped producing chances after that substitution. You definately won't score without creating chances.

Also, WBAs goal came before the substitution, so i doubt a different substitution would have a retrospective effect.

Just back from the game, and deeply depressed about our league form.

The world is upside down. We are now retrospectively on a worse run than under Hodgson, who has managed to beat an already decent team bolstered by £110m worth of talent.

Kenny was supposed to reintroduce professionalism, The Liverpool Way ,of taking each game as it comes, and playing each game as though it might be the last. Instead we have a team that play the occasion ( a cup run, games against Man City/Chelsea) and are not playing for the manager.

Being beaten by Roy is a humiliation.

Our season continues to teeter. A double win will put LFC and Kenny in the history books. A defeat puts Kenny back with Alex McLeish as a League Cup winner.

If we are dominating games and not scoring then the tactics are wrong. You don't only win five home league games all season by bad luck- it's bad management.

As our league campaign continues to splutter, as it did last season, so the prospects of an abject league finish increases, and the chances of securing quality summer transfer targets diminishes. We may look on the Downing and Adam signings as the salad days.

Kuyt did not deserve to be subbed, Pepe kept a few out but might have done better with the goal. Johnson is a fantastic footballer, but not a specialist full back which is why Chelsea sold him. He has a place in wide midfield, but not as the last man playing at the highest level. Kenny needs to take responsibility for failing to play a formation which gets the best out of the players.

I have just caught Kenny’s post match interview which appears to be a pre-recorded speech now in which he has forgotten that he is supposed to influence results, if he cannot, there is no point in him being there.

It's sad. I've never seen a LFC manager wheel out the tired old tropes and weak excuses as Kenny 2012, Hodgson and "turned the corner" era Houllier included.

Disagree (massively infact). Spearing should have been kept on and Shelvey brought on for Henderson (preferably starting). Once Spearing went off our pressing disappeared, we didn't win the ball back, and our whole shape went out the window. Feel sorry for Shelvey, when he came on most of the others had given up, which was the most disappointing thing about the whole game.

To the people criticising Reina for their goal, and Kuyt for his miss: Odemwingie's chance was much bigger than the one Kuyt had (because of the angle, and both being right-footed). How can you criticise both our players?

Personally, I think Kuyt should have hit the target (at least) from there, but it was by no means a certainty he would beat the keeper.

On the other hand, I would have fully expected Kuyt (and Odemwingie) to score from 8 yards (with a perfect angle for a right-footer) out with nothing but the keeper in front of him. If you have played any football, you will know it's a lot easier to come in from the left with your right than from the right (which is why we play with our wingers "reversed" from time to time).

I think Reina felt he had to make the first move as Odemwingie was so close, and while it probably would have looked a bit better if he hadn't been caught off balance, I think the outcome would have been the same. I'm not relieving Reina of all blame, but that goal was 90 % down to Johnson (and Enrique) trying to be too clever. I like their confidence with the ball, and I love the way we (mostly) play our way out of defence these days, as it gives us a lot more possession and keeps the game flowing. These situations will occur from time to time though, let's just hope they are the difference-makers too often.

In a 442 it might be nice to have at least one of the CMs do a little more than keep it ticking over. I wonder if Modric feels satisfied when he keeps it ticking over.

Exactly , what is it with all this ticking over crap ,..... Henderson and Spearing had the whole WBA team in front of them most of the game so its not exactly hard to keep it 'ticking over' knocking it sideways mostly .......

.......and woopee shit Henderson hit the cross bar and hit another wide good for him and good enough for some of our supporters by the sound of it ............. we lack so much quality its a travesty , so many of them are not Liverpool FC standard players ... and to think what we splashed out ah fuck it i wont go there.
