Swansea playing today. Can see that being called off. I liked Gary Speed. Consummate professional, nice guy to boot, and a great footballer.

not that its the most important thing by a long way with regards to this tragic news but I wonder if Bellamy will be up to playing today, former team mate at club and international as well as worked under him for Wales, its knocked me and seemingly most football fans for six so god knows about those who actually knew him

Didn't he struggle with alcoholism?

If he did he hid it well!

Looked like he could still play.

Saw him warming up before a run about 3 weeks ago when I was coming back from the Grosvenor Arms in Aldford and saw him out running a lot.

He lived about 800 yards away from a pub called the Rake & Pikel in Huntington, in a nice place but nothing too over the top.

I am about to power down & leave for the game but I can say today's game is now almost unimportant.

Can't believe a death of a non Liverpool player could have such an impact.

I cant believe it. I was only reading the secret footballers column on depression in football yesterday and it mentioned that stress and depression wasnt uncommon amongst the players.

The Secret Footballer: Sometimes there's darkness behind the limelight | Football | The Guardian

Such a shame for his family

1 in 4 of the population will suffer with depression/mental health issues at some point in their life.
