Well, no, but the press always seem to have respect for Zola compared to their treatment of Rafa.

Based on him being a very, very good player for Chelsea, always friendly and smiling, always having time for the media, and being one of the most popular foreign players to ever play in this country.

Yeah, but his team was shit. Way shitter than ours. They should've taken him to the cleaners!

Is it because West 'Am won the World Cup in '66, so the 'Ammers have a pass for life with the press? If only Bobby Moore had played for the Reds.

So if England win it this year with SG, Carra and Johnno in the ranks things might get better?

A good swathe of the media dislike us anyway which always works against our managers.

But I reckon Rafa just rubbed the media up the wrong way. He wouldnt play their games and thus pissed them off.

Also he had a pop at the grand master slur fergiscum. This probably delighted them privately but publically alot of them probably had to turn up the heat on him then.

SG - they like him. Doesn't even matter if he doesn't play in his "best position", he's Stevie G. Stick him on the left and he'll do a job.

JC - they don't like him. Turned his back on England and wasn't good enough anyway. Missed than pen the other year in that competition. Card marked.

GJ - can't defend, can attack. Black, so in the TK-421 assigned risk pool of "likely to get bad press". Yep, I went there. See also: Ashley Cole, Emile Heskey, John Barnes.

No one does care what they say.

Some people like to think people do because then they can blame the media for tarnishing the manager they love rather than believe that fellow supporters have actually seen the crap being served up and made their own minds up.

Or maybe just maybe some people haven't got a memory of a goldfish and can remember him getting slaughtered for reaching a European Cup final.
