Given that reverting to the old stadium is going to require restarting the whole process of gaining planning permission for a third time, how much are the costs going to escalate for that in the meantime? In addition, weren’t their time limits set against how long the redevelopment grants would be available? Surely they too will now be lost.

How some of Parry's sheer incompetence that he has demonstrated over and over remains in such a high powered position defies belief. That was a sad sad day when the yanks rode into town, this club of ours is spiraling downhill at an alarming rate. The comparison between us and Arsenal who, as you will recall, started the planning process for a new stadium at a comparable time, is quite a testimony of Parry’s unparalleled inability to comprehend what was required and drive it on to completion.

What can we the fans do??? If this is all true, it must time pressure was brought to bear on that pair of devious, two-faced, slimy, redneck scum.

Arsenal well and truly fucked over the local community to get their stadium built - they kicked all these local businesses out saying that they needed the extra land for the stadium, then decided that they didn't after all and sold the land to private developers for a massive profit. To get planning permission they promised they would build leisure centres, underground parking for all the coaches, GP surgeries and loads of other stuff that has mysteriously not happened. The club and their fans are the biggest disgrace in football - I wouldn't want to hold them out for any kind of favourable comparison.

The plus point, if there is one, is that they have an already agitated fan base(custom) and I doubt even they would have the cajones to sack Rafa and fuck the stadium plans off at the same time.

I honestly don't think they care. What difference does it make to them, they are thousands of miles away in a different time zone and no-one knows what the fuck Foster looks like.

All they seem bothered about is the $'s - Saying that, just looking on the whole issue regarding stadium/manager/players it doesn't make financial sense for them to fuck the whole lot of them in one go.

I don't follow that "We can't do anything about it" line, if we let them think that, the more inclined they will be to do what they want. They need us to help repay the loans, there's many things we can do.

If DIC or another investor came in with an improved offer for the club, I wouldn't be too surprised if the American owners called it a day. Owning LFC is proving to be a huge milestone around their necks. The internal arguments, the backlash from the fans, the credit crunch in the US and the escalating cost of the stadium are all factors which could lead to them moving on providing they get a return on their investment.

Hicks and Gillett are back on Merseyside this weekend and it says much about the present difficulties at the club that their overdue peace summit with Rafael BenÍtez, the manager, is no longer top of the agenda. The word from Anfield over the past 48 hours has been that the club’s proposed move to a new stadium on Stanley Park is on the rocks again. With the global credit crunch forcing a rethink over their plan to take the club £500 million into debt, Gillett and Hicks are being forced to reconsider the jaw-dropping plans that they revealed in July. A minimum 60,000 capacity is a must, but the club are now looking to scale down those designs.

I changed the bit in bold. I know almost nothing about the world economy except that experts seem to be worrying, Northern Rock is a mess and there is talk of recession. Would any owner of Liverpool go ahead with an ambitious stadium project given the uncertainties? Is there anyone on the forum who knows something about economics and can give me some idea of the risks involved?

One of the main thiings that people who support the new owners use to support them is the stadium they are planning on building. If this gets shelved then they will be leaving themselves wide open for abuse.

Its doesnt help the fact that the pictures of the stadium have been all over the world by lots of different media outlets so it will be a bit embarrassing for the club if they have to say 'well we have changed our minds we are going with this other design'.

At the moment its all rumours as nothing as been confirmed but there is far more negative stories coming out regards Gillett and Hicks then there is positive.

Well what a surprise, All those fans that wore the stars and stripes when these two chancer's rode into to town must be feeling a tad embarrassed for lining up behind the pair of numpty's.

Had ultimately Moore's and the rest of the 'pocket lining' board had appointed a firm of advisor's who were familiar with DIC's ways, then we would have avoided this mess and be in far better company. DIc may well have finance via the open markets but they don't have too due to the huge cash reserves they control. This is the biggest fuck up in football financing history, well done Moore's for all your work over the years as with littlewoods you are just not up to it.

Excactly. It will be a bit like praising DIC to the high heaven and saying what wonderful custodians of the football club they will be and then selling the club to the Beverley Hillbillies.

You can just imagine Moores and Parry sat at a Cafe in Bootle trying to work out who to accept whilst they eat thier fry up.

Gillett and Hicks where Moores gets quite a few million extra and Parry gets to stay on as CEO or DIC where Moores wouldnt get as much cash and Parry would lose his job.

Bet they had made their minds well before Parrys extra toast had come.

Most if not all, major takeovers hinge on how much £ individuals will get & whether they will be retained in the new set-up.

Thats immaterial now.

IF our owners are as experienced as they were perceived to be, then shouldnt they have held preliminary talks about financing the stadium as the planning comm was looking at it. And shouldnt they have estimated a range of increase of cost. The Hammers are making a 60k seater in 250m by the looks of it, and we are all set to make the new Wembley.... fucking ridiculous.

I dont know how fucking parry sleeps at night.

He doesn't sleep at night. He sleeps during the day, with his phone switched off.

Lol, honestly though, werent we going to lose some european comm money 9m or so if we didnt begin construction before some stipulated time? Delay after delay and not one brick has been laid yet. Crap.
