It's not that simple though.

Clubs use databases for scouting players, proper in-depth stuff and it's mostly provided by a single company that specialises in it and sells that database to clubs that can afford to pay for it.

A little while back, some of the smaller clubs questioned the wisdom of competing with richer clubs using the same information.  They decided to set-up their own databases using slightly different metrics to bring some different players to their attention, as Brentford said, there were looking for marginal gains.

I know Brentford have their own database, and so do Brighton.

Whether or not Brighton's owner is the proprietor of the database or the head of development is an interesting question but I'd imagine it's the former.

If Chelsea have retained the Potter recruitment team and are trying to recreate the database I don't know.  If they're starting from scratch it'd take a long time.

Haven't we just had our head of recruitment leave, so therefore it's a pretty similar scenario?

If Adams was not made of straw, he would be the no brainer of no brainer's. 99th percentile ball winner who wins 60% of his duels in the Premier League. That is freaky.

For the asking price it's definitely worth the risk. Get him regardless.

Anton Stach. Mainz. German. 6’4.

Profile below. Comparable to Effenberg & Khedira apparently…

Haha It was more a tenuous wrestling reference. Turns out he is though!

We should be regarding Adams as a guaranteed signing alongside whoever else we’re hoping to attract as both a stupidity tax and some level of insurance. Obviously flawed in that respect, given his injury record, but realistically where else would we get something comparable for a similar price.

Hmmm sounds like bullshit to me, even adjusted like that it would still favour better teams, when you have 20% of possession like Bournemouth did you are panicked with no options when you do get the ball so often play a ball that gets intercepted easily.
