This doesn't mean much but on the French football show I listen to, they played a clip from Pape Gueye's Instagram during the celebrations with Senegal, where he's asking Mané to come to Marseille, and Mané basically said; "If they pay the transfer fee, I'd go." 

 

I don't think it's a big secret to anybody that him leaving could be in the cards.

Would he play much at PSG? He'd be behind Messi and Neymar.

A cheaper but almost as effective (in the French league at least) replacement for Mbappe. Makes sense. I don’t imagine he’ll get much game time here behind Diaz and Mbappe.

It is highly likely mane is off in summer....we didn't buy diaz for him to be one of 5 quality forwards.....always gonna be 4 plus a minamino/origi type.

Not sure we can really count on Firmino any more, although hopefully he perks up for the rest of the season.

But yeah, Mane, Diaz and Jota can all play the same position, you'd think the writing is on the wall.

Why is it as soon as we get two good players in the same position we've got to sell one? Why can't we have Mane and Diaz? City have Grealish, Foden and Sterling all alternating the same position.

For one, his contract's expiring soon. Also, Klopp usually uses fewer players. It's a fair hypothesis that someone is going.

Haha. In all seriousness, I love Mane but if Diaz turns out to be a success then we’d be setup for that left forward role for the next five years. That means we would have to bring in a central striker though.

Yeah, and it's Salah by the looks of things. If the club had real ambitions though they'd keep Mane and Salah and upgrade on Firmino.

Don't understand the ongoing obsession with Real or Barcelona , maybe 5 years ago , but England's top sides , Bayern and PSG are where it's at now. Ours and City's  Coca Cola teams would give Barcelona a game.

Why would Mane be so casually happy to leave and why would he be more likely to have champions league success elsewhere.

Mane would have to think carefully about where he moved to. Barcelona aside, any of the other teams and he might find himself in a Wijnaldum type scenario. Not good for him.

We're lowering the age of that front three, as you can't have them all getting over 30 and on huge contracts at the same time. It was always possible one would get a bumper deal, one would see out their contract, and the last would be sold. With Jota, that process began, and recruiting Diaz continued it.

 

The priority is keeping Salah. If Mané is theoretically available, that could be a good sign in that regard, however painful it would be to lose him.

If not for covid I believe Mane and Firmino would have been sold already.  Both need to go on the Summer.

No issue with us selling Mane, and nobody can deny he doesn't owe us a bean.

Yes. Great player and a great man.

Yeah, even when he’s struggling he never gives less than 100%. That should be a given but how many times have we seen forwards go off the boil and just give up. He’s managed to recapture some of his form on sheer will alone. Good luck to him if he goes.

Why is everyone so keen to write Mane off? He’s still fucking fantastic, the standards he sets where 14 goals last term is a disaster. He’s still so so good, would be distraught to see him go.

We need a right back to cover for Trent. Knowing our recruitment team, it'll be some lad from Brentford, Ipswich or Norwich, he'll cost £6m and he'll clearly be world class after about three appearances. 

 

Manchester City will just buy Benfica's or Sporting Lisbon's right back for £55m and see how that goes.
