Seriously though, we need a midfielder. Henderson, Thiago, Fabhino, Keita, Shaq and Ox all have injury issues; Milner is about 52. That just leaves young Curtis.

The best “club saves millions” they did recently was an article along the lines of “Liverpool Justified in £100m Gamble” which ended up being us being great for not signing Adama Traore for the vaguely hinted at by spurious sources £100m price tag Wolves might want in an alternative universe. I’m also partial to other teams saving us millions by signing other teams players that we might have signed.

Just reading that Barca have to come up with 200 million euro to register the new players they've already signed this summer, and it's got me thinking ...

 

Why not replace Gini with another Dutch midfielder? Frenkie hasn't impressed everyone there since he came (although this season he was better) and he's the perfect age to fill the hole Gini's departure has left in the squad. Come on, FSG, cough up a little money - you know it makes sense! He might cost 60m now but he'll be worth 120m after a couple of seasons dominating the midfield for Jurgen!

He's on over 14ml a year. 

No way we are paying that.

At some point players and clubs are going to have to realise there is a ceiling to wages because its literally going sink clubs. Some kind of regulation needs to happen, players on 250 grand a week getting a titty lip because the club pays a new player 300 grand a week so demand parity. Its been obscene for a long time. At some point it will only be City and PSG who can offer pay increases and what will happen then, they can't buy everybody.

To be honest Bobby, people have been saying this for as long as I remember players wages being a thing. When I was young, I don't remember it being a big thing, but maybe that's just because I wasn't aware. But I remember when we made John Barnes the first player in England to earn 10k per week to stop him going to Italy, this seems to have been the story.
