I know we won't but I'd still like us to put a few of our hardly used seniors in the side.  If we can get through this round we can start using the Cup to rotate because the League should be behind the slightest doubt by then.

Still a bit sad that Glatzel's missed all these opportunities.

Boyes and Gallacher both played 90 minutes this afternoon; I'm not expecting either of them to start. I've no idea if Larouci is fit, or if Millar will be risked. Ideally Lewis will not start at left-back.

Youthfulness. Effervescence. Resiliance. Magic of the cup. Assuredness.

I don't ask for much.

The first team don't play again until Norwich away on the 15th, so it's not unreasonable to think that the few first-team squad members who need to shake off the cobwebs after various injury absences could benefit from being involved against Shrewsbury (at least from the bench) instead of sitting it out with the others who will benefit from the period of rest after an intense couple of months. It didn't quite work out because the likes of Big Bird and Fab looked so rusty, but they've had more training (and games, in Fab's case) since then so should be much sharper than they were last weekend.

Critchley will have learned lessons from the League Cup defeat at Villa when we used academy players, so he'll want to demonstrate that I'm sure. However good they might be, these youngsters would still benefit from having a few experienced players involved, just as they did when we beat MK Dons, Arsenal and the Blooshite in the domestic cups with youthful line-ups featuring a smattering of first-teamers.

I'm a little disappointed we aren't trying to win this. I get what Klopp is doing and you've got to back him on it. But with the game being Tuesday I think it's a shame he's not said to a few of the fringe players and those coming back from injury that they'll be part of the squad. With the league being as it is he could easily give them a week of as needed there

Matip and Lovren, Lallana, Origi and Minamino to supplement the u23 would have given them so gane time they need

I hope Klopp pretend not to be arsed then as soon as the team sheets come out he appears and shows his arse to the ref.

I hope it was all an eleborate ruse to lull Shrewsbury into a false sense of security before sending out the first team to deliver the most brutal bastard cunting the FA cup has ever seen
