As the Qatar World Cup has rightly highlighted the plight of migrant workers in their country, let's also spare a thought for the suffering of migrants on our doorsteps, literally risking death just to live never mind earn a living. Absolutely horrible situation.

Agreed fully with that.

Another thought worth considering:

What if the British and French governments return the wealth they stole from the countries of the migrant workers? Maybe then these people wouldn’t have to seek work in Qatar anymore? They work in Qatar with their free will. But the wealth was stolen against their free will. I’d say it is worth adding this one to the list of highlighted issues that could be rectified.

Should be a decent final. Argentina seem to be hitting form at exactly the right time. Whereas France have the experience of a recent World Cup win, but looked a bit ordinary tonight against the first decent team they’ve faced in the tournament.

It’s hard to predict the outcome of that final. It will come down to Messi and Mbappe’s performances on the day.

All set up for FIFA’s two golden boys to face off in the final. UEFA won’t be too upset either that two out of three of PSG’s superstars are likely to be behind the headlines.

Cue every touch or move that either make will be lauded as “sublime” or “genius” by fawning commentator’s all over the airwaves and television.

Ronaldo will no doubt be praying Messi doesn’t end up winning it as he would then be, arguably quite rightly, dubbed GOAT, and that would really stick in his throat.

Mbappe on the other hand has years to win everything available and could win the CL with his club team to complete a decent set of medals at 23, but maybe he’d have to go to Madrid or Barcelona before being properly deified.

Personally I wouldn’t mind Messi winning it because he’d always have that memory, to go alongside that other memory of us monstering his Barcelona team in 2019 and the Robbo hair ruffle.

Then again, big Ibou could end up being victorious, which would be nice for him, especially if he scored the winning goal.

Just hope it’s worth watching as so many of these finals fail to live up to the billing.

Argentina will beat these.

I'm not sure you can win a world cup with a front three that can't press. Giroud too old, Mbappé too lazy, and Dembele too stupid.

The Argies will put it on them and France won't like it.

Yeah, tend to agree with that view.

You can't win a world cup with Otemendi at centre back either. Melt it down and share it.

After looking like finishing his international career almost empty-handed, Messi is a game away from being able to retire as reigning Copa and World champion. He's even got an Olympic gold medal thrown in there for good measure.

I actually hope they do it.

If clubs got on board with this, it could be quite exciting.

However, in England at least, it will need League, Domestic Cup and European Competition reform for that to happen, which won’t happen because there are too many bottom feeders milking the football cow all it’s worth (including FIFA).

Shit idea IMO...driven purely by greed.

Nobody gives a toss about any of the incarnations of it to date - apart from the south americans - and nobody wants even more games shoehorned into an already ridiculous schedule, no doubt in ridiculous locations too.

They should just leave it alone - a shite idea and there is no room for it.....there are way too many games already especially way the international calendar is encroaching on the club calendar increasingly it has got so bad - putting even more strain on players and seeing clubs suffer.

Would think that World Club Cup would be a good idea but there's just too many games at the moment. It was supposed to start last year in China but obviously the pandemic stopped that. £100m for the winners so clubs would definitely be interested.

Still annoyed by that final vs Sao Paolo when we had a few goals ruled out. Love the original trophy when it was just the European v South American champions. Would have looked good in our trophy cabinet but the club couldn't be bothered with the fist two as they were two legs against Boca and the other two times the players never really took it seriously.

At least we finally won it against Flamengo in 2019.

Wtf are Morocco bitching for the fucking idiots

I think they lost their shit over the two non-penalty incidents. The foul (not given) for the first on Hakimi took place outside the area, and the second wasn't close to being a handball as the knock-down bounced off the Croatian defender's back, yet they were surrounding the ref over both. They also did the same when they felt they should have had a first-half corner (it wasn't). They got a bit lucky when the VAR went for a shit break while Gvardiol was tripped in the box at the other end.

I'm a bit fed up reading about Messi.

Argentina have a few really fucking good players, you'd think Messi had scored a hat trick in the semi the way people were going on rather than putting a penalty away & skinning one defender to set up the third.

Aye, he's been good but he's well past his best IMO and is hardly doing it on his own.
