He looked ok under evans against a few shit teams for a bit as at least someone who tried to be commanding compared to scales babb harkness matteo kvarme he was marginally better when properly fit in a phillippe albert sort of way. Why?

Just wondering is there any hope for lovren. I ve given up on him.

Hes a rash panicky player who dresses it up as masculine and hard when hes really insecure, hes slow, His passing is gash, if we had a proper sheild in front of him maybe he wouldnt look half as bad if the dm and his other centre half keep him in check plus a manager to instill the fear of god into him and basically babysit him but hes still poor, for any team serious about challenging top four or league hes always gonna fuck up. Just take him out back and finish him off with a binbag over his head.

He's horrendous but it seems to be ignored that Skrtel is often as bad or in some cases even worse. They are both shit.

Believe me, Skrtel's shitness is not lost on me.

But then why would you be surprised? We've got a Slovakian international defender as our first choice CB.

Print that out and look at it.

Don't get the dislike of Skrtel. Lovren on the other hand...

I don't dislike Skrtel but his tendency to drop deep when opponents begin to counter attack us is starting to irritate me more and more. Looking at the bigger picture, it's splitting the centre of defence because Lovren's inclination is to push out and means we cannot hope to implement any sort of offside trap. Opponents can make runs deep into our territory and get within shooting range quickly. Lovren might be making more mistakes that lead to goals but Skrtel's inclination is causing the midfield to become too stretched, and it doesn't help that Rodgers sees no place in his teams for an athletic defensive midfielder or two to help protect the defence when the full backs are invariably caught upfield when we lose possession.

Skrtel is OK most of the time and occasionally plays some blinders .

Lovren is useless but as he's now out for months its not worth discussing him any more. I'm sorry he has picked up a serious injury and wouldn't seriously wish that on any of our players

I expect there will be anew manager to decide his future at Liverpool by the time he's back in training, So it ill be Skrtel/ Sakho first choice and I hope we see Gomez eased into his correct position as back up ahead of Toure who moves at the speed of an oil tanker these days

He's improved from a car crash waiting to happen back to his Southampton form, in other words still a fairly average defender & a million miles away from being good enough for where we want to be but sadly more than good enough for where we are.

I'm not going to go sucking his cock just cause he's stopped gifting the opposition goals on a weekly basis.

He's passable. He has some pretty obvious positional and mental flaws on the pitch but he hasn't completely crumbled after his terrible start at the club so he has some balls at least.

I thought his partnership with Sakho was genuinely pretty good so here's hoping he can forge a similar relationship with Matip. I really, really don't want to see him play with Klavan for an extended period of time, though and if we're still shite at the back even with a Matip - Lovren partnership then I really hope we'll think about spending big on a new first choice centre back in the near future.
