The thing that gets me is, this is supposed to be the most straightforward deal of all our transfer targets. And yet here we are 3 weeks later still trying to haggle a transfer fee with Roma. Who knows what has happened with van dijk but if Southampton were looking 75m for him is it not likely that we aren't prepared to pay that given what klopp said about the ridiculous amount of money paid for pogba?

Had we quietly gone to Southampton and submitted a bid once we knew Van Dijk wanted to join us, we'd probably have him by now for somewhere around the 55-60 mill mark. Indeed what players.  VVD deal probably took the best part of 6 months to plan and get funding agreed and all we will end up with is a fine from the FA. 42 goals conceded so we're slowly improving. We never replaced Sami but it took us about 10 years to replace hansen with sami. Maybe we have him in matip. Mignolet is our keeper like it or not.
