Not getting too excited about this at all.

This contract will without doubt have an un-ambiguous release clause in it. I would be surprised if that could be triggered before the summer. The only thing we dont know is what the number is and whether it carves out a move to another PL club.

Utd will definitly be precluded but I would bet that's probably it.

He's gone if we dont make CL for sure and it will be out of our hands even if we do.

We could pay Luis a billion a year! I'd still not begrudge him it! he's an artist! it's like watching Da Vinci produce a new masterpiece every week.

I don't begrudge him it as such, but the astronomical wages that players get do piss me off when so many time-served match-goers have been priced out. Luis Suarez is a fantastic player but watching him on the telly isn't the same.

His interview on the offal:

Exclusive: Suarez on new long-term deal

Luis Suarez today spoke about the special bond he shares with Reds fans as he put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Liverpool Football Club.

The Uruguayan inked his new deal at Melwood on Friday and immediately afterwards, sat down with Liverpoolfc.com to express his delight and hopes for the future.

Here's what the Reds' No.7 had to say in full...

Luis, first of all - congratulations, how does it feel to have signed a new contract at Liverpool Football Club?

Thank you. It's nice because when you extend your contract, you extend it because you want to stay here for the future. I signed not only for two-and-a-half more years, but I signed for a long time to stay here and I am so happy.

How eager were you to sign a new contract here at the club?

When you are happy, you try everything for the best for the future. I spoke a lot with my family because my family are very important to me and they are happy here. We spoke over the last few weeks with the club and everything is okay. I don't have a problem; the club don't have a problem, so it's very good.

In January, it will be three years since you arrived here - just how much have you taken to the city of Liverpool?

I like the city; I love the city and the supporters. They help me and I try my best on the pitch for them. The summer was a difficult time, but they helped me to come back and play. And I think that when the supporters help you off the pitch, you try your best on the pitch and try to produce fantastic work on the field, so that they are happy.

You have a special relationship with the supporters here. What's your message for them today?

I want to say a big, big thank-you very much. When I come onto the pitch, their motivation is fantastic for me and for the club. When I was a child, I would watch the Liverpool fans on TV and I would see the Kop and all the supporters and I thought they were the best in the world.

How important was the manager, Brendan Rodgers, in influencing this decision?

He was very important. When you have the confidence of the manager, you can try your best. I think when the team is together you can be happy as well. In the dressing room I am so happy. I don't have problems with anyone. We have a fantastic dressing room here. We have many big players, but in the dressing room, they are all nice people and they are funny too. This is important.

You've been in fantastic form this season. Just how much can you go on and achieve this year?

I am a striker and I try my best every time. My work is to help the team and my job is to score. When a striker is on fire, you try to shoot from 30 yards or 25 yards! I think I'm in a lucky moment and I try to help the team. Now we are at a good level and if we stay at this level, we have a very good chance at success.

Now you've signed a long-term deal, do you think you can get even better as a player?

I'll just try to stay the same - keep working and training hard. In the game, I'll try my best for the team. So for me, there's no change.

Looking on into the future, what do you hope to achieve throughout the rest of your career here?

The first dream for me is to play in the Champions League with Liverpool. It's my hope and my dream. I think when we have very good players, we can try our best at the Premier League. I think if we stay at this level, we can fight with other teams at the top of the table.

The wages that players earn piss me off.

£200,000 a week. Meanwhile, fans have to pay £50 per game. Fuck off, football, you piss-taking cunt.

I know what your saying but I just don't get the fuss about players wages. Obviously they are ridiculous numbers but where exactly would you like the money to go? The owners? Split between the board? Dodgy managers like Harry? Dodgy agents? Or the actual people doing the hard work, the people who entertain us week in week out.

It's supply and demand, we buy every merchandise available so they up the price. We pay a £50 sky bill a month so they pay more for the rights to watch football matches on tv, it's an ongoing cycle.

There are far more deserving people to be paid that money but that'll never happen, nurses, firemen, policemen etc are never going to get a fraction of what they deserve or what football players earn.

Back to Luis, great great news. Brendan and the board should be given huge credit for this. None of us could see this happening in the summer. Onwards and upwards, starting tomorrow.

So 170 grand this season and then it goes up to 200 grand from next season. Does that suggest this deal is centered around us getting champions league football this season. No point in paying him 200 grand this season when we can make him stay but give him a sweetener and the offer of more in the hope he does if we do.

I'm so fucking pleased!! For me, us, Liverpool, the whole fucking world.

I'm also pleased for those cunts like Gylfi Sigurdsson, Christian Eriksen, and Clint fucking Dempsey now on loan back at fucking Fulham, who thought Bale & Spurs would be a better fucking shout. Hows the table looking now, Cunts?

To be fair, they are 6 points off 2nd with half a season left to play.
