This is probably entirely plausible - but why would the paper or the agent choose us to engineer a conclusion? Nobody with half a brain cell can honestly believe we would be interested in another centre half. We'll be signing a new stadium before we sign Gary Cahill. The media are fucking mental

I feel we need the money elsewhere. But since i dont have a clue what we have got to spend any verdict will have to wait.

Cahill is good, but i dont see why we'd need him at all right now, to be honest.

I think it's improbable we have the funds to pay Cahill's wages and fee as well as buy a striker after the amount of money we spent in the summer.

You need a big squad these days. Carra's best days are well behind him and Coates is still untested in the league. Saying that, I feel Cahil is overrated. He wouldn't be bad cover for Skrtel and Agger(who's surely due and injury) though.

as long as his salary won't stop us keeping him on the bench and buying a goalscorer

He would be a good signing for us, with several good years ahead of him at a sensible fee.

 

Counter-intuitively it can be better, and easier, to make signings when you have not got your back to the wall (Carroll).

 

Skrts has been poor for the past two seasons, is this season a return to thre years ago? Or will he slip back? Agger is waiting to get injured again. Carra's best days are behind him. There is a case fo Cahill.

 

Furthermore transfers can sometimes be about availability, in the summer Agger could be crocked and Skrts have slipped back, and with cahill at Chelsea you are going to have to pay a lot more than £7m to fill a hole when everyone knows you are desperate.

 

I won't be gutted if we miss him - if we get him it will be good business.
