The "things that make you realise you're getting older" thread

My parents were 38 when I was born. I was 21 when my daughter was born. I'm able to keep up with her, whereas my parents never were with me. They never did anything active with me, although they were very overweight and I'd imagine that contributed more than their age.

Same with me and my eldest child. No more than 24 years between me and my youngest hopefully allows me to keep up with my future Grandchildren. I have a 3 yr old nephew who i can keep up with and help out my older parents when they look after him.

Realising how much you take for granted. A small example of this was after I had emptied the washing up bowl and there was suds in the sink, I ran the tap for a few seconds to clear them and realised there are people who have to walk miles for a bit of dirty water and I am here wasting a few pints just to clear some bubbles.

I thought the exact same thing last night whilst washing up. Every day the kids have to take a bottle of water into school, every day they fail to drink it, so it goes down the sink. Seems like such a waste.

Don't put it down the sink. Keep for when you make a brew. Or water your plants with it.

That's certainly true.  One thing that gets immeasurably harder as you get older is the ability to watch the kind of video clips that are pout out when fundraising for disasters across the world.

My mrs has started hiding my phone if are watching some 'Great British Bake Off for Comic Relief' type thing....

Just been asked if I fancy a pint out for the rugby this afternoon. I'm still undecided (hangover and all that). When I was in my 20's I would consider a weekend without a night out a weekend wasted. Now it's the other way round.
