Good result that and I was very impressed with Newcastle. The Mancs looked weak in squad strength but i'm expecting them to get the cheque book out in the next couple of weeks.

Newcastle will be a dark horse though if they keep playing like that - a massive 'if' as we know!

Thought Guthrie looked really good and also that Gutierrez.

Man U's next three games:

Pompey (a)

Liverpool (a)

Chelsea (a)

Just to slip into dream world for a moment - a Pompey reaction to the Chelsea defeat, we finally get some luck and beat them, Chelsea continue their Pompey form - so one point out of 12 for the Mancs! Ouch!

Ginsoak only draws! If that had been Rafa they would already have been asking whether that was a disaster. As it is, the simian-haired Keyes chooses to ignore the whole sorry affair and plug next week's schedule!

If that was us we would be out of the title race according to sky.

Man Utd have certainly been given a difficult start but they didnt start too well last year and went on to win it, so hardly tells us much

veryi mpressed with Newcastle, if they continue to back Keegan and make good signings like Jonas and Colocini they could do something interesting... refreshing to see them buying good foreign players

Buttt was trying his hardest to let Man U win though. Gave the ball away twice in the final third, creating goal scoring opportunites. Then gave the free kick away at the end, just so they can have one final chance.

Newcastle were impressive. They should have that counter attacking team away from home this season. Then at home have one with Viduka and Owen, where they will have more possession and can have their best finishers on the field.

Good result, that. Hopefully other teams can take heart from Newcastle's result and make it a bit more difficult for the mancs this season.

I am absolutely flabbergasted Riley didn't give a pen for Butt's foul in the dying moments of the game. Good work, Mike boy!

Don't know if its been mentioned but its frustrating to Watch Danny Guthrie have another good game today, while Damien Plessis is thrown in at the deep end for us, when he clearly isn't ready and while civil war reigns over an 18 million pound bid for Gareth Barry.

He's a good player Guthrie and wasn't really given a chance for us. I thought we were too quick to get rid of him, after he was one of Bolton's best players last year. He might not be good enough to be a first team regular but is the sort of player, who could have come in and done a job when required.

I think Guthrie is a very decent player and he could do a job on the right hand side of our midfield for example; however I think having played a full season in the premiership last year for Bolton he is after regular 1st team football which he will get at Newcastle.

I bet if we had drawn our first game of the season at home to Newcastle and United had played badly and beaten 'Boro there would be bedlam. " We're out of the title race" and "Did you see the Mancs , thats the sign of champions".

If we'd just won the league, after having started poorly the year we won it, I bet the reaction wouldn't be bad at all.

The Mancs won't be panicking, and quite rightly because they have proven that they can win the league even after a relatively poor start.

We, on the other hand, need all the points we can get hold of.
