As much as I would prefer Xabi to stay, that is about the going rate for players of his ilk, if you use Carrick and Hargreaves as the yardsticks (and of course Mascherano if you choose to believe we paid £18m)

I'm all for this signing I think Barry's a good player and will compliment Masch & Gerrard really well but at that price (again if true) we should have walked away. I wonder just how much influence our Captain is having in this deal.

I would imagine the amount of appearances in the clause will be set quite high so if he did reach the required amount he must have done something right.

 

In all fairness like i posted earlier Carrick and Hargreaves for me were the barometer for what Barry was going to cost and they were both signed for around the £18 million mark.

 

I dont think either of the two Man United are worth the amount they went for but both have just picked up a Premier League and Champions League winners medal so what the fuck do i know.
