  1. forgot to mention, barry was on holiday in spain until yesterday morning, been confirmed.
  2. they fucked you off as well? must have been all that simplistic "world class" footy manager bollocks you were spouting.
  3. you know quite well he won't be sold and it was a thread aimed soley at getting a reaction. you can't kid a kidda.
  4. you're wrong, dirk, but funny nonetheless. i'm really not that mental.
  5. red nick and xabi d, what a combo.
  6. time to jack it all in if we start buying fanny merchants like this bellend to appease a few clueless brats.
  7. yes you are a clueless bellend.
  8. some fucked up simplistic logic you're applying here, lad. no wonder SOS are struggling.
  9. lets ignore the plethora of quality players he's also taken with him. dirk has been a regular for the dutch for years, and was a mainstay of the side beferoe his recent blip.
  10. kuyt is a lot better than brian mcbride, though. is a proven goalscorer in european football, and plays for one of the biggest clubs in the game and is a regualr for one of the best international teams around. maybe the likes of benitez and van basten just don't know what they're doing.
  11. i agree with that, and maybe rafa feels the same way, but i'd rather he got his main target and was happy than lose a few million on the deal.
  12. currently our wage structure is quite low compared to the other top clubs, so talk of bringing in 1 or 2 big names for big fees is pie in the sky stuff as the wages alone would eat up most of our budget. we're looking at next summer now before we can add another torres and offer him a mega package.
  13. you have to factor in wages to these thnigs aswell. 80 grand a week for example over 5 years or whatever, is another massive chunk of your outlay.
  14. what does it matter if barry costs more than what we get for alonso as long as rafa gets the player he wants? we're not accountants, and the transfer market is not an exact science. it's all about demand and what a club is prepared to pay. if the specualtion is true obviously. might just be a lot of bluster about nothing and we get him for 14 million.
  15. maybe he thinks barry is 'miles better' than alonso? or he wouldn't bother would he.
  16. not they didn't. they only bought carrick that summer and won the league. their net spend was practically nil after sales.
  17. those slagging the sale of crouch, a player no top club would have touched with a bargepole, would be better off rembering who bought him when they're slagging off the signing of barry for an inflated fee.
  18. if alonso is 'miles ahead' of barry, whatever that means, why is there not a stream of clubs desperate to sign him up, at what is a fair price for a supposed world class player?
  19. well yeah, fair enough. even though torres was a bit of a gamble. but you know the obvious types like quaresma and other such luxury types. i doubt he'd go near them with a bargepool at the prices banded about. i think he looks for certain players with the attributes that fit his ideals.
  20. some fans keep talking abut the 'quality of player we need' but even if rafa had vast amounts to spend would he go for some of the obvious names that get banded about?
  21. i thnik dirk has a lot more to his game than just hard work, but when did an amazing work ethic become such a bad thing? our history is littered with good, honest, hard working players who were supplimented by a sprinkling of top class players around them. it was the platform for most of our success. i'm sure someone like quaresma might offer moments of brillance but is he going to fight for that extra yard that makes the difference?
