UEFA: Chelsea won't be seeded (again)

Football 365

Jose Mourinho is gonna love this: Unlike ManYoo, Arsenal and Liverpool, Chelski will not be seeded for the group stages of next season's Champions League.

While their Premiership rivals are set to be included as three of the eight seeds, Chelski will be placed in the second pot of teams and can therefore expect to be pitted against either a Spanish or Italian heavyweight.

Although Jose will no doubt plead anti-Chelski conspiracy, the seedings are based on the club's coefficient from results in Europe over the past five years.

According to The Daily Telegraph, 'If Inter plus Liverpool and Arsenal are successful in the third qualifying-round, the top eight seeds will be: Barcelona, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Inter, Juventus, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.'

'In the second group, Chelsea will be joined by Lyon, Porto, PSV, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Valencia if the last two clubs win their third qualifying-round ties.'

:D

It'll take at least another 2/3 seasons of getting to semi final/final stage for Chelsea to climb into the top eight , unless they win it for the next few years!!! (gulp)

According to the latest rankings on Bert Kassies site(brilliant by the way for all those stattos!!!) Liverpool are top English ranked side!!!!

Also note the Mancs gradual slide down in the last 5 years

What is that white patch in Abramovich's beard? Anything to do with how he managed to not get sent to the salt mines?

He's been giving Vladamir Putin a gnosh, its the only way he's allowed to stay out of the Gulag, he manages to detatch himself emotionally though - hence his vacant appearance.

It is a brilliant site with up to date stats on who's qulaified for what.

It goes back five years, so our EC win came just in time as our UEFA Cup win was just aboot to expire.

Do you really think that UEFA would have the goolies to throw them out?

I think not

Juve? They will, for sure, be relegated. And will lose their Champions League qualification as a result. The Italian FA will do this, not UEFA.

surprised the two time winning Mancs get into the top eight....they must be close to falling out into a lower grouping

they will lose a very big part of their coefficient next year so will drop down for the year after that unless they make the semi finals.

They could very well do unless they do well next season, ie , at least semis/final as they are due to lose their best year of the last five, 28 odd points for season 01/02.
