A young Reds side went down to defeat in Belgium in the final game of the group stage, but we won't waste too much time talking about that.

I agree on the overlap stuff.  It’s really good every week.  Neville is the worst thing about it though.  Even if you take away his odd jibes he’s still coming up with stuff to try to big himself or the sides he played in.  I thought Stam was good this week.  Neville had to throw in some laughable comment about Stam and Johnsen being the first 2 defenders to ever get left at the back to defend 1 v 1 or 2 v 2.  You can see straight through him when he says stuff like this.

He’s clearly rattled by Van Dijk getting plaudits and the way he defended at his peak.  Football was never played like before we started doing it.  You had open games that were end to end but defenders were never exposed like that as an actual tactic.  He then contradicted himself saying the rule for them was if one full back went the other would stay and make and make a 3.

He does the same shit trying to big Scholes up saying he should have played as a defensive midfielder for England in a 3 as if that was ever an option or he played in that role at any point in his career.

Scholes was a decent, top class but he's nowhere near Gerrard as a player, it's a tired and boring argument that always brings out bitter clueless knobheads and footy virgins.
