They know what they’re doing. You may want to research “Vision 2030” if you’re interested in understanding how this fits within the country’s overall plan to recreate itself.

 

My only worry is that in a few years time, if the Saudis are anywhere near where they want to be, then a war will be invented out of nowhere by the usual suspects to derail them and bring the region back to turmoil.

That’s incredibly unfair of them. By all accounts they all did well on loan last season, they have earned the chance to be looked at in pre-season, otherwise, what is the point?

 

Bajectic took his chance last season, who’s to say the other won’t do as well?

 

I’m not at all saying they’ll be around the first team squad come September or they’ll make it this season (or ever) all I think is they deserve to be looked at. 
 

Nobody is disputing we need another midfielder and a centre back, all the noises are we’ll do it. 
 

The Saudi stuff has likely rocked us a bit - which is natural. Players likely in their last contact for us, off the back off poor seasons and we’ve been offered good money for them, which all parties have decided to take. 
 

This time last week, we were looking at Lavia to play alongside Fabinho and / or Hendo. Now we might have £50m extra to spend, why wouldn’t we re-look at out options for different / more established options. 
 

Say we want Kimmich (not saying we do or it’ll happen or anything - purely an example). We’ve likely not been working on him for months, like Lavia. Kimmich is a far more established player, far bigger fee, far bigger wages, a club who likely don’t want to sell, a player who might not want to leave the club, a family who might not want to leave Germany etc etc etc. 

 

Its clearly not as easy FIFA or Football Manager - slap a bid in and it’s done in 10 minutes.

 

Finally, players we should have available for the games before the window closes -1st 11 players Alisson, Trent, Konate, VVD, Robbo, Mac Allister, Thiago, Jones, Szoboszlai, Salah, Gakpo, Diaz & Nunez, backed up by squad players like Gomez, Matip, Tsmiskas & Elliott, before anybody else comes in, is more than good enough to win our opening games. A point nobody should be underestimating.
