Nike deal

Recommended Posts

the home top is just about acceptable.

but the away jerseys are deplorable, and any of the images ive seen for their casual or training gear is crap to. Absolutely no thought or design gone into them, pure copy and paste from some other generic shite Nike make.

Underwhelming is how id describe them

Every year we see the fan created kits and they all look brilliant yet we always end up with some form of monstrosity.

Training gear and the trackies look smart tho and you can see the young lads and girls who won’t go near buying a kit cleaning up buying all of them.

Seeing the 96 getting used on more merch is leaving a bit of a sour taste with me though.

I like black kits, but we’ve never had a good one, in my opinion.

The 2009/10 third kit was our best white one since the 80s, I reckon.

Forgot about 2008/09, which I liked. Gerrard and Torres looked great in it and it used to remind me of John Barnes.

You do know the cost of living and annual salaries in China? 70 quid a day on a 5 day week would be around £17,500. The top average wage on this region by region chart would be below this amount and around £15,000. It would seem highly unlikely Nike are making shirts in Beijing. Almost everything we buy in life is made in the far east because of this. This is not unique to Nike. I would imagine anyone sewing clothing in this country would be earning just national minimum wage, which is less than 9 quid an hour and just £78 per day on an 8 hour day. So before we say Nike are good or bad we need some context rather than a random headline banner of 70p a shirt, which sound shit, but actually may be a really reasonable wage and deliver a fine quality of life to the employees.

Average incomes are fairly meaningless in this context - it includes the billions earned by the top earners. Take the incomes of Zuckerberg, Bezos and Gates out of the equation and the AVERAGE US income drops by thousands. More meaningful is the median wage , the number when as many people earn more as earn less .The mean wage, the average used here, is the favorite of neoliberal economists to fool the pllebs.

So Nike can make nice kits for Barca but shite for the current world, europe and english domestic champions? I'd be having a word if I was John Henry. Or have they promised to refurb the Yacht?

Same template as our home kit that.

We'll all that does is back my argument more. If someone is earning 17k in an economy were the average wage is 9k, so the median likely to be significantly lower, it would be fair to say they shouldn't be too upset with their wage. However, as pointed out a few times, we've genuinely no idea what the daily pay of these machinists are, we just know they get 70p a shirt.
