Ive only listened to one album of his all the way through... "Goodbye Yellowbrick Road" and i enjoyed it. Early singles good as well, nothing decent after the 70's

Love that album but his 80's work was slightly better.

I love Captain Fantastic. He was absolutely on fire in the early to mid-70s- from Madman Across the Water to Blue Moves, he produced some amazing stuff. The drop off after he split with Taupin was pretty steep, although he could have been pretty burned out by then as well, he'd been averaging over an album a year (some of them double albums) for the 7-8 years before the split.

There was a brief renaissance in the early '80s when he hooked back up with Taupin and his old backing band, but the music from then always seems a little out of place, rather than the almost timeless, classic stuff from the early '70s. In any case, he soon turned to utter shite with drivel like Nikita and I can't think of anything original he's done since about 1986 that grabbed me.

These are probably my favourite songs of his, although I can't listen to them when I'm pissed as they set me off-

To be fair, he's a Remainer, thinks Trump is a cunt and has campaigned and donated a lot of money to LGBT and AIDS-related charities, presumably that's where his friendship with Diana, the Princess of Hearts came from. None of that precludes him being a Tory, but if he is at least he's on the socially liberal side and is likely apolitical aside from that.

He has some redeemable features at least. Amazing how that cunt Trump manages to piss so many people off, even some of the least offensive types.

Yeah, but the cunt will always have the unwashed weirdos following him.
