Full time - Leicester 4 Liverpool 0

The young lads well beaten this evening.

Credit to our boys, they kept playing the right way throughout, but were simply up against a better team tonight.

Our U23's were top of the table on goals scored and a game in hand. Sounds like too many players did not turn up tonight.

Not at all. The players put the effort in, but were just up against a bigger, better side tonight. It happens at this level.

Our oldest player tonight was the triallist from Chelsea who is 20. Neco Williams, our 16 year old right back, is still at school.

Plenty that the lads will take from tonight. They'll be itching to get back on the pitch to show that they are good players, and they are a good team despite their obvious inexperience.

6 of the team starting tonight played in the FA Youth Cup recently - i.e. under 18s.  Most of the Leicester lads were 20 or over. Not really an even contest. Most of our u23 team that did well in the first half of the season are either out on loan or have been moved on.(That's not to mention the likes of TAA, Gomez, Solanke, Woodburn, who are part of the first team set up). It's basically the u18s team who are playing in these u23s games, so it's going to be tough for them, but character building, or some such other cliche.

The 23s will be looking to bounce back from their defeat at Leicester, as they host the Mancs at Anfield this evening.

Kick off at 19:00, with live coverage on the offal from 18:30.

There are Kop only tickets available for the game, but they must be purchased from the ticket office before 17:00. There will be no sales on the gates.

Half time - Liverpool 0 Mancs 0

Danny Ward the busier of the keepers. Nat Phillips and Conor Masterson have been very good in the heart of the defence.

We've not really got into high gear as an attacking force, though we played our way into the game after the visitors started the game extremely well.
