Went to cross fit last night. Thought I was fit as I pretty much box three times a week and spa once a week. Cycle quite a bit as well. That cross fit has got me hurting in places I never thought possible. A good different way of training. Some mental heads in there though!

I've just started running again, I'm shit as I get myself thin and fit and then stop. Done it about 4 times.

Done 4, 4 mile runs this week with the last one fartleks of 1 mile warm up and then 2.5 miles of 2 mins fast and 2 mins slow with a warm down of 0.5. It was fucking awful, nearly puked about 3 times. This time last year I did 10 miles at 7.30 min miles. Soul destroying.

Another all or nothing man, huh?

Let the 'this time last year' shit go; there's nothing to be gained from it. You are where you are and that's some effort you've put in this week.

Cheers Champ, totally correct about all or nothing. I can be committed for about 10 weeks, then I see the result and dive into a pool of chips and gravy to celebrate. I'm 44 next month, it's going to be tougher to yo-yo so I need to get my act together. In my head I've still got a sub 45min 10km in me.

Depends how old you are!

Ive managed to get out every day over easter (4 days) but all the good work has been undone because the wife gave us pudding with cream and after 8 mints with every fucking evening meal! Oh well, maybe I havent put on as much weight as if I hadnt done any exercise!

  • 4 weeks later...

Can anyone recommend any decent cardio routines for the gym for those of us who get bored easy? I lost about three stone a couple of years back doing the couch to 5k, I've tried doing it again a couple of times but just get too fucking bored.

Not fancy cycling instead. I do weights in the gym but the cardio equiptment bores me to tears. A good bike ride is great.

I'm a Personal Trainer so if anyone needs any help or advice, feel free to give me a message.

I use the cross trainer and step machine for my cardio because the treadmill hurts my fucked knees. I also do sit ups with the medicine ball. Am I doing enough to lose weight and look fucking awesome?
