Liverpool 1 Crystal Palace 1 (May 25 2025)
It wasn’t quite as special as the celebrations after Spurs but it was still one hell of a day. It could be that the football itself dampened the mood a little, certainly for a spell in the middle of the game, but it always going to be hard to top that spontaneous outpouring of joy we had after Spurs. So this was just a little different, but still a day that will live long in the memory. I’ll get the game out of the way first as there’s really not a great deal to say. We couldn’t have

That was the Week that Was (May 26-30 2025)
Monday May 26: What a heartbreaking end to an incredible day. The parade actually exceeded expectations, which were already sky high after previous ones. It was fucking unreal, so many people showed up from all over the place. You see the photos and videos of train stations throughout the country and there are Reds everywhere. It’s fucking mad. What a day for Slot and the players. And then that happens. It will all come out in the wash who he is, what he was doing there a
Premier League Round Up (May 25 2025)
So another season in the books and it was a great one for us. It’s always easier doing these round ups when we’re doing well, as when we’re not it’s a slog having to watch those above us winning games and I find myself getting more and more bitter and resentful. When we’re clear at the top, who gives a fuck if United, City, Arsenal or whoever win their games. And when they don’t win? Well it’s even more enjoyable. This final weekend saw all of them (as well as Everton) record wins bu

Monday May 19: Brighton 3 L 2. Yeah nothing to say about this. It's covered in the match report and I don't want to waste any more time thinking about games that are going to be forgotten in a few weeks. The manager and players aren't taking them seriously so why should we? That isn't even a criticism, more of an observation really. We've literally been on the beach all week. Frimpong is all agreed now and is supposedly having a medical today. Kerkez is rumoured to very c
Premier League Round Up (May 17-20 2025)
The two worst sides in the 17 Team Premier League both played their games on Friday to give themselves extra recovery time for when they met in one of the showpiece events of the season. The Premier League should be apologising to UEFA for the clownshow that was served up in Bilbao, but I’ll get to that. United went close to full strength (whatever that is these days) while Spurs rested everyone who started the final. Which begs the question as to why they were allowed to bring their

Premier League Round Up (May 10-11 2025)
I should probably have my feet up in Dubai now, or be living it up in Ibiza with that Wayne Lineker arsewipe, as that seems to be the done thing now that the title is won. The rest of this season doesn’t matter, it seems. But I’m not, I’m here, writing about a load of dead rubbers because the hardest working man in football doesn’t quit before the season is finished. So, another week where the only thing with anything riding on it is the top five chase. City were looking

Monday May 12: The big story everyone is talking about in the national media today is Trent and the booing. I’ve said my piece on what happened in the match report, but in terms of this media feeding frenzy, there are two thoughts I have here. The first, is that this doesn’t happen if the booing doesn’t take place, so the discussion is a result of the actions of some of our fans. We opened the door for this. Well, Trent opened it and we pushed through it. He deserved to b

Kop Tales - In their Own Words
Kop Tales In Their Own Words: Emlyn's first night as a Red
Emlyn Hughes is one of Liverpool finest ever players and captains, having given 12 years sterling service to the club and captaining the Reds to their first European Cup success in 1977. Emlyn saw and did it all during his time on Merseyside, but of all the weird and wonderful things he experienced as a Liverpool player, perhaps nothing was as surreal and memorable as his first night as a Red. The following is an extract from Emlyn’s book, entitled ‘Emlyn Hughes: Crazy Horse’, and re
Kop Tales In Their Own Words: Smith, Yeats and Mayhem in Majorca
Tommy Smith was known as the Anfield Iron and one of the hardest men to ever pull on the Red shirt. Ron Yeats was an even more fearsome individual, a man mountain who had made a living slaughtering animals in an abattoir before becoming a professional footballer. Yeats struck fear into Liverpool's opponents during the 1960s, while his young apprentice Smith took over the mantle throughout the following decade. The following extract, taken from Smith’s book, Tommy Smith: I Did it the
Kop Tales In Their Own Words: Steve McMahon - Switching Sides
Swapping Everton for Liverpool is always a contentious move likely to upset fans of the Blues, but when you’re a local lad, boyhood fan and a player who became club captain it’s going to sting a lot more. Steve McMahon could have joined Liverpool immediately after walking away from Goodison Park. He was out of contract and there would have been nothing Everton could have done to stop it, but out of respect for his boyhood club McMahon instead chose to make a two year stop at Aston V
