Johnson, imperious performance; people still say he can't defend.

Agger, solid and won the pen.

Gerrard, super penalty and influential throughout.

 

Honourable mention for Skrtel. The whole team deserves praise after that, extremely professional display.

Before he went off, I thought Spearing was taking control of the midfield and really stepping up. I would have given him man of the match. Johnson worked tirelessly, even though there was absolute confusion with 8 defenders in the back line. Pepe's save was like Pepe of old. Skrtel was workman like. Agger winning the ball in the box for the penalty would have just edged Skrtel, but I have to give it to Skrtel for solid defensive work.
