DVD Recorder to Laptop (Idiot's Guide Please)

Hope someone can help me with this.

 

The laser in my Panasonic DVD recorder/player has finally given up the ghost and is out of warranty. Can't afford a replacement at the moment and the trouble is, I still have a load of stuff on the hard drive which I'd like to get off. Would I be able to link it up to my laptop? What sort of lead/s would I need?

You only need a HDD docking station, they connect to your laptop / Pc via a USB cable.

 

Not sure whether you may need to also download some sofatware to enable the videos to play, or whether they will just work with media player.

What outputs does it have? It could be as simple as sticking a memory stick in the thing and copying the movies onto that via the menu on the player.

100% yes you do. If the player is broken and not working then you will have to remove them.

I should probably add that although the DVD player will no longer burn discs, weirdly it will still play them & the stuff on the hard drive also still plays fine. Does that make any difference?

Well if you can still access it to a laptop then you should be able to otherwise you need to remove it.

Not quite a dvd recorder but does anybody have an HD PVR?

 

I'm trying to find out after recording a video of Call Of Duty/Modern Warfare 3 when it's uploaded to Youtube the video doesn't play full screen.

 

I've tried messing about with the settings on both the PVR & Youtube but no luck.

 

Any ideas people?
