Finally got round to watching the rest of these this week.

Class show, as expected - Think Band of Brothers mixed with Jarhead and the realism of The Wire... HBO own! I really liked the end credits of each eps where they leave the radio mic's open and the chat on the comms can be funny, sad, crazy or a mix. Really graphic show and very, very well produced.

The show is obviously political in places but I thought it did a good job of showing all perspectives without leaning too obviously/heavily towards one side.

Got the series from Sammy Afteshave a while back. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Doesn't gloss over or ignore the shit things that are done in conflict by some shitty people. And the final scene, with 'When The Man Comes Around' by Johnny Cash on the soundtrack, gives some idea of what the soldiers think of their role. Well worth the time.

In two minds about buying it, on the one hand it's David Simon, on the other hand anything to do with Iraq and the war on terror bores the tits off me. I'm guessing there are some poorly trained moron hics with guns involved and some misunderstandings leading to civilian casualties?

That's why I've never been hot on Viet Nam films either, the themes are all the same.

Saying that, I will probably buy it when I'm bored.

Its really more about chain of command and the impact that has on the reality of a situation, that and the homosocial behaviour of the average American.

Guest Numero Veinticinco

This is the next show on my list. I've watched a bunch of TV Shows and I'm now working my way through the few that I missed first time around. I've just got the last two episodes of Rome to watch and I'll be moving onto this at the weekend.

Surely there must be someone on here who watches it. I'm fucking loving it. I ordered the book the other day and plan to read it after the series has ended.

Me and the Missus watched the whole thing in one sitting, every fucking excellent episode. Up there with 'the wire' for originality.

Makes you wonder were/are the US Marines that fucking gormless? scary!

i think the 'fabio' character was a 'real' marine, or id heard one of them was a serving marine at one stage i think?.
