I'd rather have Quaresma rather than the likes of Bentley or Riera or any of the other shite we've been linked to.

I think Rafa would too mate it's just that Quaresma will cost £20m

That said I'd rather spend £20m on Quaresma than £15m on Bentley, or £10m on Riera.

But £20m is £20m - not £15m or £10m. ;)

On a serious note, good player but doesn't score enough and his end product needs to be improved a great deal.

However, I can't see us buying a £15-£20m player this season in addition to Barry.

Not really seen enough of him to come to an accurate conclusion.

He was poor at Anfield but quite good over in Porto, whereas when I watched him against Chelsea the season before he was really good. I like the fact that he has a bit of flair and guile about him as I think that's something we lack.

It would be a gamble but I wouldn't say no.

I would stay well away at £20m... 3 questions on him at that price which maybe his fans on here could answer:

i) Why did he fail so badly at Barca, a comparable sized club to us in a major league?

ii) Why did Scolari leave him out of the World Cup '06 squad? He has built his team around Tranaldo so not averse to skill players

iii) Eng league is v physical... he is 5 ft 8, the main Iberian successes of Torres & LadyBoy are 6ft+ ... Is he strong enough?

Mark me down in the 'unsure' category.

Aye, I've heard that said about you before now Padre and on a number of issues like.

1. He didn't do too badly at Barca. His time there was marred by a slow start and subsequent arguments with the coach.

"I was very disappointed in Barcelona," he said. "I would not wish what happened to me to anybody.

"There were times when I had to look in the mirror and ask myself if I was good enough to play football."

"Of course, I was young (19) back then, but I had to face some injustice," he added, hitting out at Rijkaard. He has in the past expressed a desire to return to the club and put things right, but not while the Dutchman is in charge.

"The pressure at Barcelona hardly helped."

He only played 22 league games (some of them as right back) many as a sub and scored 1 goal.

2. More to the point is why is he back in this time? Portugal isn't Ingerland - they have had more wingers than any team in world football these past 10 years. He was good during qualifying, only Scholari knows why he left him out. In Brazil Scholari is known as a pragmatic/defensive coach.

3. Stupid really? I give you Zola who is tiny but ok from Italy and not Iberia, but Fabregas isn't exactly 8ft 7.
