That logic doesn't hold up because the only reason it will go south - quickly - is because of negligence and lack of investment from the owners, not pragmatism.

The club's size is more of a direct correlation to our annual revenue, size of fanbase and legacy heritage than it is to do with Jurgen Klopp.

Even if your supposition was to be true, it would be a totally illogical approach. A failing football club is far more expensive than a successful one. If we go south after Klopp leaves, good luck to them if they think their asset will [1] retain value and [2] continue to generate the revenue is currently does when we are floundering in 7-10th with Steven Gerrard as manager trying to make a 10m net spend work.

Once we fall, the fanbase will be Hodgson-levels of unhappy, and the heat will really be on, because there'll be no Jurgen Klopp to cover for owners who have neglected the sporting aspect of their investment. A Fabio Carvalho won't be taking you from 7th back to 2nd, just take a look at the landscape - City, Newcastle, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, United...even teams like Villa and Wolves, all spending big money.

No man - the vast majority of folks feel that the success is down to Klopp and when he leaves it will fall apart.

The clubs size (revenue/value) has appreciated more in the last 5 years than ever in it's history. Very little of that has to do with legacy.

A mid level football club isn't expensive at all. Wolves especially have increased their revenues/value with modest transfer investment to the point they are one of the top 20 valued clubs in the world. Wolves.

I think they are probably averaging putting in @ 45mil in net transfer over the last 5 seasons.

WHU are about the same - now is a very good time to be a mid level club in the Premier League.

2021 Report

Wolves' revenue jumped way up

Total annual revenue: €219.2m

Change: +45%
Wages/revenue ratio: 72%
Net transfer balance: -€12.7m

Come on my man.

The expectations for a club like Wolves and WHU will never match those for Liverpool, regardless of whether Klopp is at the helm or not. You say a mid-level football club is cheap...it's not if they are meant to be a top-level club. Managers will constantly get sacked, players constantly rotated, PR will be in the gutter due to fan sentiment, all of which completely devalues the asset.

Separate but related, do you think that we could sustain this level of success if Klopp wasn't our manager?

I was saying the same thing to my mate yesterday. This is not the Virg we know, he is clearly carrying a knock or worried about the WC.

with the injuries round the squad he may well be carrying something but is prepared to put himself out there. if this is what it is, we need konate and matip back and get him some rest to get over whatever it is. we absolutely cannot have him playing like the last 3 games all season.

Fuck no, that is why I have said it in every post. No one does.

In fact, there is a fair chance that the fellas at the helm, being pretty wily types know that as well.

They made their move to deal with that fact with the attempt at forming an ESL.

I thought the suggestion was Konate may be out for a long time?

If I was to guess, the player Klopp wants right now is Barella but people at the club don't think he's worth what he would cost. I think that's the diasgreement so to speak. Bellingham, I think he's accepted he can't get right now, but he's obviously a fan. It might not be Barella, but there's someone else out there that Klopp wants. There obviously is someone as Klopp wouldn't say he'd take someone if there was no one he wanted available.

I think you are right on that. Neil Jones says Klopp really rates him when he went through a list of potential targets. Of all the players linked he seems the one (arguably including Bellingham) that could come in and play 38-50 odd games a season and play in any of the positions.

Neves would be a decent addition, wonder if Wolves will do £10m down the rest over 5 years like Jota? Failing that they can have Ox and Naby in a straight swop with them paying 50% of Neves wages.

He's slow. Think we all agree the midfield lacks legs.

I want a midfielder but beyond Bellingham I'm fucked if I know who it could be who would be available. Maybe the club have the same thoughts

Well, you’d hope that with the millions of pounds invested in identifying football players who could play for Liverpool that the club would be better placed to identify players who could play for Liverpool than a bunch of people on an Internet forum.

They're not going to sell a passing specialist in Neves, especially now that they've bought a top class ball carrier in Nunes who complements him perfectly.
