After travelling half way round the world with a groin problem,Kewell will be fit to play in the Aussie's vital home clash against the Solomon Islands who are already 5-1 down from the first leg.

If he really is carrying an injury, just WTF is going on?

And apparently he's NOT over his injury yet, but is still playing for the Australian team - this is from the Oz Daily Telegraph :wallbutt:

--------------------------

The fit-again drawcard underscored his desire to play by flying acclaimed Dutch physio Andre van Alphen from Europe at his own expense to ease the pain in his groin.

Van Alphen – the man who helped prolong the career of injury-plagued former Socceroos skipper Paul Okon – has been Kewell's constant companion for the past six days.

At $2000-a-session the excruciating deep-tissue massages cost enough to make the multi-millionaire wince with more than simply pain.

He only played the first half as well.

Think it was more to do with getting bums on seats than anything else. Kewell is also Australia's face of adidas and has just signed a massive deal with them. I seem to remember hearing he was releasing a DVD down under as well?

Would be worth watching if it was of his wife's down under

Queuing fans miss Kewell

By Anthony Peterson

October 14, 2004

ANGRY soccer fans missed most of Harry Kewell's rare Sydney performance on Tuesday because of long queues to buy and collect tickets.

Ticket offices at Aussie Stadium went into meltdown as overwhelmed staff attempted to cope with the demand generated by Kewell's first Australian appearance in three years.

Some fans did not enter the stadium until late in the first half - well after hometown hero Kewell had scored his goal in the eighth minute.

The Liverpool star missed the second half after suffering an ankle injury, further disappointing unlucky fans caught at the back of the line.

Nineteen thousand spectators - the stadium holds 40,000 - attended the Confederations Cup qualifier against the Solomon Islands.

But Kewell's late inclusion in the team caused a last-minute rush for tickets.

Soccer Australia estimated 5000 fans arrived at the stadium without a pre-purchased ticket. Lines at the two sales windows on the eastern and western side of the stadium snaked for 80m.

Those who had paid for but not collected tickets were not spared and found themselves stuck in a frustrating queue.

The 7.30pm kick-off compounded peak-hour traffic snarls around Moore Park.

Residents complained of a gridlock which added 30 minutes to trips home.

SA yesterday confirmed all ticket boxes were opened and fully operational.

About 6000 tickets had been sold by the end of Friday but interest skyrocketed after Kewell was announced fit to play on Sunday.

Fans also complained of long queues for beer and food which lasted for up to 15 minutes.

Despite the wait, spectators were well behaved with police reporting no problems on the night.
