Not sure if I've had my money's worth out of this one-

My play time stats on some games are actually kind of depressing.

On Battlefield 1 on the Playstation I've got a total play time of over 28 days.

Dread to think how much time I've spent on various versions of Championship Manager/Football Manager considering I first played them on the Amiga.

The Last of Us Part II multiplayer is now a full stand alone game with a full story and is bigger than either of the 2 single player games.

And they're gonna make me buy another version of The Last of Us Part I for PS5 despite having it on PS3, PS4 already. It's catching up to Skyrim.

XBox and Bethesda showcase is tonight at 6pm.

With Starfield delayed until 2023 the 'first half' of 2023 will we get more of an idea of which month, will we get Elder Scrolls 6 content?

I need to find out when I need to get an XBox series S.

Starfield - that first bit of game play on Kreet looked underwhelming, Outerworlds style shooting mechanic with No Mans Sky mining.

The RPG bit in the second clip looks more promising.

Character creation looks better than Fallout 4 with the New Vegas style traits and settlement/spaceship creation and customisation.

Lost me at the beginning but getting better.

I was expecting this to be a spoof video and was waiting for some idiot to jump out in the red light streets dressed as a soldier but it’s from the actual game. I’ve never played them but watched my lad play the campaigns and I think I’d watch these as 6 part dramas.

absolutely unreal

edit: there’s no nudity

That's running on a series S as well apparently, thought it was using UE5 at first but it's using IW Engine 4.0.

If you have a PS5/PC you want to check out the Unreal Engine Matrix tech demo.

Shame we're unlikely to see a full game as good for a long time really.

In anticipation of the Starfield deep dive that's about to begin how is the Xbox S performing for the higher end games?

They've just announced a 1TB series S (with no power upgrade) and I'm not interested in shelling out Series X money when I'm probably only going to play Starfield on it (and download loads of games I'll never play on game pass) but if it's already struggling then Bethesda might set it on fire.

That looked way more interesting than the Playstation showcase. Weirdly enough I decided to watch some about a min before the Cyberpunk expansion was shown but as an RPG fan it had more there after looking back at what was shown. I've never owned an Xbox console before but after watching how amazing Starfield looks it makes me think about getting one in the future mainly for that.

They also showed Avowed and Fable that are on the way and they have Outer Worlds 2 and the next Elder Scrolls even though they weren't shown, probably other stuff I can't remember. Sony seem to rely mostly on FF games. The PS showcase had FF7 right at the end after I'd managed to stay awake through the rest, that was the only interesting thing I saw I think. I'm not into the look of FFXVI because it looks too gloomy, focused on one character when I prefer the focus on a team in FF games, like it's trying to be Souls-like at times and the Eikon battles don't interest me either so I'll probably pass on it. And it makes me think of how big Bethesda going over to Microsoft could be over time and that Sony might really want to have a think about what they're doing for RPG's from here on out.

I'd not be surprised if Starfield launches in total Bugthesda mode too and takes ages to sort out, like with Cyberpunk though I can just go into huge RPG games from the off and not really give a shit. I'd not mind playing from the start and being patient as the thing goes through all the patches needed to get it where it needs to be. If it ends up as good as it looks that's a huge win for Xbox.

Starfield looks incredible and I'm going to lose 300 hours before doing the first 5 missions of the main story......but, having been burnt by No Mans Sky, Fallout 76 and Cyber Punk i'm gonna wait until the dust settles at release and then look to pick it up with a console to play it on November - Xmas.

Whether this is a re-assuring anecdote or some of Todd Howards typical marketing spin remains to be seen but if it does play perfectly fine on the S then great.

Quote

Speaking at a ‘What Next For Gaming’ event, Howard revealed that Series S has become his most used Xbox console, although not entirely out of choice.

“I got an X and S when they came out,” Howard revealed to the assembled media. “I put the X in the basement with the big 4K TV.

“My kids don’t let [me play it]… they’re always on it. So the S is upstairs… and [the game] looks great.”
