Liverpool ace’s wife forced transfer to stall

 

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva was on the verge of joining Galatasaray but his wife was reluctant to uproot the family according to the Yeni Safak newspaper.

 

Per the source, Lucas had agreed terms and Liverpool had given the green light for the Brazilian midfielder to make the move but his wife urged the 29-year-old to stay which resulted in the transfer stalling.

 

Galatasaray sporting director Levent Nazifoglu revealed yesterday that Lucas had until Monday evening to make his decision.

 

“We have asked for a response regarding Lucas Leiva by tonight. If we don’t receive one, we’ll pursue alternative players,” he stated.

 

The Echo meanwhile reported that it was Reds head coach Jurgen Klopp who was behind the transfer stalling as he wanted defensive cover brought in before allowing Lucas to leave.

 

Liverpool are facing of a defensive crisis with Mamadou Sakho, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all out injured and the Reds also sold Martin Skrtel to Fenerbahce while Kolo Toure parted ways with the club earlier in the summer.

So basically Lucas not going means we're unlikely to sign anyone else to strengthen the defence?  Plus wifey not fancying the fantastic lifestyle out in Turkey at the mo what with the old military reportedly lining up to be executed.
