  1. 1. Should Corbyn remain as Labour leader?

How much time do Labour spend "fretting about Trident"?  Any more than they should about any other £100 billion (or whatever it is) commitment?

Have you not noticed that, just about every chance he gets, Corbyn tries to steer the conversation round to jobs, benefits, social housing, etc (usually when some hack is asking questions about his tie or the national anthem)?

Aye.  Have you noticed how effective it's been?

I fully accept Corbyn was elected leader with a huge vote but I would be interested to know how many of those that did so would stand by that vote. I think this is a very left wing site and I suppose in real life we may well all move in different circles but I know very few Corbyn supporters and most of those I associate with are Labour voters, anecdotal I know but anyway.

EDIT: In response to Ian

As you said Paul, we'll see. If Corbyn is forced out and replaced by a Blairite then my membership will be cancelled and they won't be getting my vote.

I know a few others who would do the same.

If there was a candidate from the left of the party capable of uniting it and providing strong leadership then i'd be happy for Corbyn to step aside (and I reckon he'd be happy to do so, principled man that he is).

My attitude here isn't out of blind faith in Corbyn, it's a matter of principle and values.

The PLP are still living in denial about their defeat at the last GE.

These treacherous spastics just refuse to hear what the membership is SCREAMING, "You work for US".

It's been a year since Corbyn was overwhelmingly elected leader and te PLP are still willingly ignoring his mandate, his message and the party's direction. BASTA ! Call time, roll up the sleeves and start sacking them.

Let's see a load of by-elections,let's reinvigorate the party and the electorate by installing a load of new, younger, fresh socialist candidates to fight these by-elections for real Labour Party.

Let Hilary Benn stand as a New Labour candidate instead of cancerously eating the party from within.

So far, Corbyn has shown remarkable patience and restraint, too much so imo. This is a golden opportunity to demonstrate leadership and authority.

It's not just Blairites though, that's one thing you've got to realise. That Jo Cox for example, she voted for Corbyn to be on the ballot paper because she though it was important for democracy but she actually backed Liz fucking Kendall of all people and I wouldn't describe her as a Blairite when she'd devoted half her life to helping refugees and poor people. Not every Labour MP outside of Corbyns inner circle is a Blairite. All this talk of deselecting every Labour MP who doesn't agree with him is utter nonsense and adds nothing to to conversation. Many MPs who don't agree with him will have represented their constituents for years and be popular with them.

The other thing is I completely agree with Robo and Clangers? Is that he's got to speak to Labour voters and not just the membership of a few hundred thousand people, half of whom weren't even Labour voters but joined just to elect him and paid the £3 to vote or whatever it was. Even on here half the people backing him aren't Labour voters ( not that I'm trying to say you can't have an opinion, it all adds to the debate )

You could make the argument that an MP elected by hundreds of thousands of his constituents answers to them and should do what he thinks is best for them.

Things will come to a head shortly and we'll see what's what. Wouldn't surprise me to see the part split at this point and that might be the best thing long term for all involved.

I support Labour FC not Corbyn FC?

I know that's a bit flippant but it raises an interesting point. Since AOT brought Rafa up, one of the criticisms aimed at Rafa supporters ( not that I'm saying it's true ) was that they cared more about the man than the club.

How many Corbyn supporters on here care about the Labour Party more than Corbyn? Not many I suspect.

That's an absolutely ridiculous statement. People support Corbyn because he represents them and their views. It's not even comparable to what you're attempting to compare it to either.
