Final whistle goes, City take the 3 points today.

Liverpool 1 City 2.

This was a very strong City side against a much changed Liverpool side, who finished the game with several lads from the Under 16 side on the pitch.

City deserved the win, but our lads can be pleased with their effort today.

I only saw the second half, but I thought Griffin looked very promising in midfield, and I'd like to see more of Travis at right-back.

Griffin has featured in a few games recently and has looked good. I like the lads Phillips and Virtue as well.

Can only bode well for the future that we have quality competition for places at this level in the centre of the park.

Rossiter signs first professional contract

Liverpool Football Club are pleased to announce that Academy midfielder Jordan Rossiter has today signed his first professional contract with the Reds, on the day of his 17th birthday.

A tenacious tackler with an impressive passing range and the ability to shoot from distance, the local youngster has progressed rapidly through the ranks at his hometown side.

Having represented the U18s, Rossiter was quickly promoted to Alex Inglethorpe's U21s this season; the Scouser was also a key member of the Youth Cup team which reached the quarter-finals in this campaign and the semi-finals a year ago.

The 17-year-old has been included in two first-team squads during 2013-14 too - he was named among the substitutes by Brendan Rodgers for the trip to Chelsea on December 29 and the home clash against Hull City three days later.

Following the announcement, U21s boss Inglethorpe told Liverpoolfc.com: "Jordan has worked very hard this season.

"The contract is a recognition given to allow him more time to develop and evolve. He's a level-headed young man who knows hard work is necessary for him to continue his development."

Haha, great moment from Kent a few minutes ago. Fairly frantic clearance from a corner, the ball is lashed away towards Kent and a Spurs full back. The full back is charging in clearly wanting to get a tackle in before Kent takes his second touch, but Ryan watches the ball drop from up high and traps it. Kills it perfectly and pivots with his foot on the ball to face the defender... who visibly cacks his pants and backs off.

Looks like yet another injury for the Youth lads. Liam Griffin is having his lower leg/ankle braced and will need to be stretchered off. He'd earlier come on for Matty Virtue.

Deep into stoppage time and we're down to 10 after making all substitutions.
