Probably the poorest 45 minutes of the season for the 21s.

 

Blackburn could, and probably should, be 2 or 3 goals up. Not that they've blitzed us or anything like that, we've just been that sloppy.

We're level just 6 minutes into the second half. A wicked cross from Brad Smith is turned into his own net by one of the Blackburn centre backs.

Better showing in the second half. Brannagan and Rossiter controlled the midfield in the second 45. Didn't make the Blackburn keeper work nearly enough though. Definitely missing an out and out striker at the 21s level.

Newcastle take the early lead. Cam Brannagan lost possession in midfield and the Newcastle striker drove at the heart of the defence before turning onto his left foot to slot an effort past Mersin.

All square now. Jack Dunn with the goal. He wins the ball about 25 yards out and lashes a strike through the Newcastle keeper.

2-1 to us now. Peterson with a near post tap in after great work by Ryan Kent.

Kent looks good here.

Kent and Wilson both look promising.  I'd expect them to be promoted the 21s next season as Inglethorpe likes them to move up very early, like Rossiter, Brannagan and Chiravella have done.

Yeah, Kent and Wilson both look like they are going to be great players. It's a really excellent bunch of young players we have right now.

I like Dunn's physicality, reckon he'd make an impression in the senior game. Hope he gets a loan next season.

Don't want to sound like a broken record but how good is Rossiter? He could play in the first team right now.

Yeah Rossiter is brilliant.

 

A year or two ago I thought Dunn was nailed on to make it, his progress slowed a bit but he'd started to come on strong again recently.  A loan move next season would be a good test for him.
