Yevhen Konoplyanka

According to reports from Ukraine, Liverpool target Yevhen Konoplyanka has successfully undergone a medical in Dnipropetrovsk, a move that signals all parties still believe a deal to bring the winger to England is possible. However, despite the medical having been completed, a completed transfer as yet remains far from certain.

In addition to the two clubs disagreeing over the payment structure for any deal, the presence of multiple representatives on the player's side are further complicating the settling of commissions and agent fees. Despite the stumbling blocks, work towards a deal continues with just over four hours to go before the transfer window closes.

Reports elsewhere confirm Liverpool are involved in no other deals, either incoming or outgoing, and that no matter what happens in Ukraine over the next few hours there is no chance of any senior players leaving on loan or of the club bringing in a midfielder or fullback before the clock strikes eleven in England.

From Echo's deadline day stream:

"Exciting news from Russia - website Russia 24 has now said the deal is done and Liverpool have signed Yevhen Konoplyanka  for around £16million for the Ukraine international, and Konoplyanka will earn a salary of around £57,500/week.

Again, we are trying to get some confirmation so it remains a rumour for now in our book - and I have no real clue about the credibility of that site - but this is looking more hopeful than it did"

Couple of reports received in the last 20 minutes which indicate that Liverpool have contacted the Premier League,

The negotiations have been protracted due to ownership details being untangled, with upto four parties said to be invested in Konoplyanka, and no deal can be reached until all four are satisfied. Part of the negotiations have centred around an issue whereby two investors wish to retain their part ownership of the player even after a transfer.

The PL have historically allowed for contractual snags to take the deadline into the following day on exceptional occassions, but prior permission must be sought ahead of the 2300 deadline.

Liverpool are not interested in part ownership of the player.

Guest Numero Veinticinco

I was excited about Carroll and nonchalant over Suarez (I'd seen next to nothing of him). Ha ha.

Oof. That's a bad call. A bad call indeed. I basically campaigned for Morientes to sign. I'd quite possibly have driven to Spain and piggy-backed him here.
