What a shit way to end a great game there by Arbeloa.

First he dives and puts them ahead in a game that deserved to end 2-2 really, then he runs in and pretty much turns 2 players having a stand-off into a full on bout of madness similar to a Real vs Barca handbag session. No need for that in a freindly at all. Actually cheered when the keeper saved the pen, Fabregas was lucky to have it return to him off the post to score.

Loved watching that for the most part though.

I watched the second half so I've not seen Chile giving Spain the runaround posts on here suggested they did. The second half was all Spain. Arbeloa's antics were a shambles though. Lots of little fouls in non-threatening areas, a blatant dive in the penalty area, and nearly starting a punch-up by getting involved when he didn't need to. Mourinho's training methods have clearly worked well on him.

Iniesta got the first from Spain followed by a Fabregas double. They were 2nil down at h/t and the changes worked. They took off Villa, Alonso and Cassilas brought on Iniesta, Fabregas and Pepe.

It was actually Pedro and Iniesta as the outfield players at half time that turned it. (Chile couldn't even seem to get the ball once that happened, didn't even seem like the same game any more.) Fabregas and Torres came on later in the half, then Cazorla last. Not trying to be a bore, just saying!

Was just looking for the actual times of the subs via news reports in the last hour and found this :

But of course things didn't end there. Incensed about the officiating, some of the Chilean players barked insults at Andrés Iniesta, who reacted by shove-punching the nearest opposing player. Mayhem ensued: infuriated Chilean players rushed Iniesta, as Spanish players flooded on to the field. Second-string keeper Pepe Reina, who had come in for Iker Casillas at halftime, bolted up the pitch and began throwing punches; newly-acquired Barcelona super-sub Alexis Sánchez jawed with some of his new teammates.

What in the fuck? Maybe a Manc writing that? Mental.

Just checked the writer actually, he's a big Real Madrid fan. Funny how the first part completely fails to mention Arbeloa in the scuffle there then......the Barca guy gets all the blame for starting it instead. Hah!

Doh meant to say Pedro, instead of Fabregas. Although Fabregas role was influential.

Agreed, Iniesta and Fabregas basically did a tag team job to pull things back to 2-2, they changed the game. Should've been won earlier too really if Silva hadn't missed that sitter and Torres had actually played like he used to do when clean through.

I thought Downing was very good for England tonight. Bags of energy & got himself into the box as well.

Surprised how poor Ashley Young was in the centre.

My rudimentary maths suggest that if England beat Wales next week, they are more or less through unless Macedonia can win both of their last 2 games & turn a 9 goal difference around in the process ( including one with England )

Don't understand the anger Irish people have towards Trapattoni, he's doing as well as he can with that Irish squad in my opinion.

He is doing well, but the football is fucking dire. The team selections are awful, too. He insists on playing Whelan and Andrews in the middle of the park who never look forward and the tactics seem to be lump it up to Doyle/Long who flick it on. We are relying too much on keane to bail us out. There are better centre backs than St Ledger and he insists on playing Kilbane when fit.

He's ran his course and should go after the summer when his contract is up.
