Rafael Benítez on the brink of leaving Liverpool over Anfield rift

I'd edit the fucking lot of it out of existence if I was worried about offending The Anti Rafa Taliban, mate.

I'm not scared of offending it's just that if I started criticising people within the first few lines people wouldn't take it seriously. Anyway, no actually gives a fuck!

Rafa's 2009-2010 Performance Development Scheme Objectives:

1. Work within the budget.

2. Finish in the top 4.

3. Win silverware.

His delivery against PDS objectives doesn't seem to have met Meatloaf's minimum standards.

Better the devil you know? Maybe. It'll be difficult to quantify the benefits of keeping Rafa if he goes on to reclaim a top 4 finish next season but wins f**k all again. People will continue to bitch and moan. But I can't help feeling the alternative is like throwing out the baby with the bath water; hiring someone like O'Neill and cementing our position in mid-table mediocrity.

If Rafa stays and sets himself a 'performance development action plan' the media and so many fans will continue to compare his performance against what could have been achieved with a monied-Mourinho-style manager that would somehow unquestionably have brought instant success.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. One things for sure though, none of us really know what's going on at this club anymore. Whoever the manager is next season, whoever our striker is and whoever our captain is, they'll have my full support!

He's hanging on for his 16 million pay off. Juve have given him until Monday to make a decision allegedly let's hope he packs his bags after the Hull game and we can move on from this spoilt childs behaviour. This Benitez clown has to be most annoying spin merchant in the history of LFC. Petulant and cunning. GEt out on monday

Haha, what a load of shite. If you actually stand by everything you said there then you are a clueless muppet.

How can a statement like this pass without comment?!

Frankly, I think it's absolutely hilarious that there are people out there who believe that a few lads having a chat about football on a message board, hold so much sway. It's nothing other than hysterical nonsense.

How on earth did you come to the conclusion that me taking exception to what someone else had posted was in fact me saying such opinions hold some sort of sway on matters?

Truly baffled,

Coro.

Just read back.

If it's true he's asked for assurances that money raised from player sales can be spent on replacement players, and they said no, surely no half decent manager would want the job under them conditions.

They dont need to be a half decent manager. They only need to lose less than 19 games in a season, to be a success.

Thats the impression i get from some of our fans.

Is right then.

See you later Rafa.

Well it would represent progression on one level.

If potential candidates for the job were told they could lose 15 games in the season as long as we played attractive football, and handed the players we currently have, there'd be a queue halfway to Chittagong.

If Rafa asked for those assurances, and they weren't given, then my gut instinct says that it would be a tactic by the board to push Rafa towards the Juventus offer so they don't have to sack him.

Pay him off.

I'm sick of it now.

Call him out for what he is and thats greedy.

He knows we are on our arse but still wants his pay off, so sack him and pay him off.

Sell some of the shite he's bought to pay for it.

How do you know he is greedy? I personally don't know the man so I don't know if he is or isn't greedy, but I'm interested as to how you know.

But the point I am asking is, if Rafa walked out would he be in breach of his contract and would he therefore have to pay the club £16m?

How he managed to get that contract is beyond me. Leaving aside the should he go or stay debate that is one shocking pay off.

Was it Purslow who negotiated that, just asking as I am not sure but think I read on here it was him.

Madness whatever way you look at it. We basically cannot afford to sack him, we do not have the money.
