Reds have refused Hillsborough shirt change

Apparently, Rick Parry has decided that Liverpool will not play with a special shirt commemorating the Hillsborough victims for the anniversary game.

I'm disappointed by that. It wouldn't exactly have hurt the club to do it and I'm sure Carlsberg would have had more positive PR out of not being on the shirt for one game.

Either way, they would still have their sponsorship of the Leppings Lane stand, which of course is called the Carlsberg West Stand these days.

happy we're not having a special shirt made, don't want to lower ourselves to manure standard when they did it for munich last year, for them it was just another pay day... i don't want it to be like that for the 96.

That's a nice way of looking at it.

Agreed. There should be one dignified way of commemorating the anniversary, too many ideas runs the risk of publicity overload and Jade Goody mark II.

We should of had the design from that ace banner the other day on the front of the shirt.

Well in Parry, you've gone against all our wishes yet again.

Shame its so late in the day, a little campaign might of got this decision reversed.

Cant SOS email Hicks and get him to veto the clown?!

I thought United said they wouldn't sell the design of shirts for the 50th anniversary of Munich. Did that change?

I think SoS are allowing HJC and HFSG to be the front runners for any 20th Anniversary proceedings. They can't and shouldn't be interferring with organisations that have been providing the help they have for many years. Of course, I'm sure SoS would help if asked to do so by the HFSG and/or HJC.

To be fair to Parry on this, I feel certain he would have consulted the HFSG before making any decision. Whenever possible the HFSG have always been allowed to lead the way on this type of thing.

All profits to the HJC, but the skint yanks would NEVER approve that.

The lads should wear T shirts about the 96 when they walk out and another one inside their jerseys which they can show at the end of the 90. Both sets can later be auctioned off and the proceeds given to HFSG.

Also, a little emblem saying JFT 96 on the shirt like we have markers for Cup finals wouldn't hurt.
